94 ford explorer firing order

Are you needing the firing order of the ignition leads to the spark plugs? It would depend on what engine you have, but look closely at the coil pack modules. I belive Ford have the number of the cylinder marked next to the output on the coil connector for each cylinder.

Check out autozone.com. Once you register you can look up all kinds of information for your vehicle. How to information, wiring diagrams, exploded views, firing orders, diagnostic code information, etc. As far as I know the 94 explorer had a 4.0 liter with distributorless ignition. Are you sure you have a 94 explorer with a 4.0 liter engine? On the 4.0 liter the passenger side of the engine are cylinders 1-2-3 the drivers side is 4-5-6. The cylinders should be labeled on the coil pack. The passenger side of the coil pack will be cylinders 1-2-3 from front to back. The drivers side is a little tricky. Hope this helps. The ignition coil:

• changes low-voltage pulses from the PCM to high-voltage pulses.
• fires 2 spark plugs simultaneously.
• has 3 transformers.
  • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 1 and 5
  • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 2 and 6
  • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 3 and 4

Spark plug wires:

• carry high-voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.

The spark plugs:

• change high-voltage pulses to spark at the gap, which ignites the fuel and air mixture.

The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.

Cylinders are as follows.

Drivers side front to rear

4,5,6

Passenger side front to rear

1,2,3

Coil is marked the same, according to the manual.


Firing order is 1,4,2,3,5,6

For the 1991 Ford Explorer 4.0L SOHC V6:
