My driver side tail light just the left side is broken . i am not sure if that is the inner or outer portion it is the piece that is covering the actual tail light if that helps my car is a 2007 hyundai sonata

go to the wreckers and get another good one and replace it

The outer bulbs may not be used in your vehicle's application. Sometimes VW's and other European vehicles are equipped with rear lights that are used in foggy weather. They will come on when the fog lamps are activated and the switch on the dash will give the driver the option to turn on the right one or the left one depending on whether you are in a country that has left hand driving or right hand driving. The lights are there for "parking purposes" so that the vehicle can be seen in extreme fog conditions when parked on the street. If the vehicle isn't equipped with the system, the taillights may have provisions for it anyway.

Open tailgate and use a #20 Torx screwdriver to remove two screws located on the inner side tail light assembly. On the driver's side, the screws are accessable through the tailgate hinge area with the gate open.Pull taillight assembly straight back from the vehicle to get it off. You may need to utilize a wedge to gently work the top and bottom of assembly away from vehicle on outer side. If so, be careful to use plastic wedge or a protective layer (such as a thin piece of cardboard) next to the body to prevent scratching the paint.Once removed, twist applicable light cover counter clockwise and pull to access lightbulb.You may want to apply a small amount of lithium grease to the two plastic stud holes before reinstalling the cover to make it easier to remove the next time.

For the front map lights - gently pry the cover down using a very small screwdriver. The outer-edge (left or right) should be last. the inner portion is where the cover pivots and snaps in.
Once the cover is removed, just unplug the bulb and replace. It is a tube-style bulb...it kind of looks like an old style fuse.

Follow this steps below,

Tools:

• 8 mm Socket with Extention
• Flat-Head Screw Driver
• Piece of Cloth

Step 1:
Open the Tail Gate and you will see two tabs on the inner side of the tail light.

Step 2:
Using a Flat Head screw driver, pry open the two tabs. This will expose the 8mm bolts that are holding the tail light.

Step 3:
Using a 8mm socket unbolt the two. Using a flat head screw driver, pry the tail light out. Make sure you use a piece of cloth so you do not damage the paint on the side.

Step 4:
If you are using this process to change light bulbs, then you can just go ahead and swap the bulbs. Otherwise you can just take the tail light out by removing the harness.

i would replace all the seals between the bed and the top. also the seal at the bottom of the tailgate. that should take care of any leaks unless there is a rust hole under the carpet

Unfortunately There are only 2 Places to Purchase these Lenses. A Salvage yard or the Dealership.

Remove 3 - 4 screws on fender cover close to side marker light. Pull fender cover out a bit for you to use your other hand to reach side marker light. By twisting on one direction and here you go the light out. Replace new bulb and replace everything in reverse order.
