Filter light keeps flashing
The light flashes after a certain amount of run time. It is a reminder to check the filter to see if it needs cleaning. Once you have checked/cleaned the filter and reinstalled it, press the filter button for 5 seconds and the light should go out.

Heat has been hard to get started now it has stopped
your problem is the heating element is burnt out. This can be caused by a number of problems the most common is debris getting past the filter and accumulating on the heating coil causing a burn out. The heating coil sits behind the evaporator coil so you will need to remove the a/c from the casing. Once this is done you will see the heating element . If you are able to do this repair you will see that it is fairly simple. The element actually looks like the element in a toaster. Remove the wires from the element unscrew the element from the a/c case taking it and the model and serial #'s to an appliance supply for replacement. If you aren't in the mood to mess with it an a/c tech won't charge an arm and a leg to do this for you it's usually the cost for the part and a slight labor charge. Good Luck on your repairs hope this helped
