I would try cleaning laser with cotton bud dipped in cleaning solution, If this dosnt fix problem you may nead a new laser or dvd drive.

Has anyone answered this problem yet? I have the same problem...

I have a C TECH URC 10, and while doing the set up my TV(telefunken) whent blank and just the red standby light flashes.
Now I do not have any control,and cannot reset anything.

If the unit stays stuck in startup with the hello message, that means that there is either a software problem, or that there is a disk inside the unit.

Try first simply disconnecting the DVD player power cord for a couple of minutes. After connecting back, try pushing repeatedly the eject button while you start up the player. If there is a stuck DVD it will come out.

U have a LCD tv any models?Just buy a HDMI cable,one side of cable hook to the HDMI in the Wharfedale hub,the orther side to the HDMI LCD tv hub.Power on,play the thing,go to the LCD tv,go in the LCD tv menu pick HDMI 1,2,3 will get the movie or what u playing?If the Wharfedale work.

The laser works slightly different on a DVD than CD and it might be that the lens is dirty.

Have someone open it and clean the lens with a swab dipped in 90% alcohol. Then swab it dry after

Use AV Leads to connect to set top box

Check you video cable if it is well connected if it is then interchange the cables using the one for the audio for the video and other one for the video to connect the audio . If there is no sound then the video cable is bad and need changing but if it produces sound then you will need to visit a local repair man

I'm not familar with that particular TV but check in the menu. Some TV's have to be set to digital and default to analog.

The optics need to be cleaned with a cotton swab and eyeglass cleaner

This requires the unit to be open with the drawer out (UNPLUG the AC too)

hi, the main cause of this problem is that one of the leads in either the back of the telly or in the back of the player your best bet would be to remove all the leads then plug them all back in and try again and you should find this will solve your problem.

Also make sure your telly is on the correct source or av station as this can also cause the problem your having so just have a flick throught your source or input or av channels do this after you have re-fitted the cable correctly and you should find this solves your problem.

Quite often it's just a case of cleaning the laser. You should be able to buy a CD / DVD cleaning disc.
