Hi Barb22,

Sounds faulty to me, I'd take it back to the store and get a replacement. However, I guess you want that DVD out first? I'm not sure this will work because the units logic board is mostly likely faulty and will prevent the DVD transport from opening. Unplug the unit and press the eject button, keeping it pressed plug the unit back in. If the unit does not come on then press the power button too. If the unit starts to open release the button immediately. It's unlikely to eject, but you might get lucky.

Sorry I can't be of much further help.

Regards,

Spare head 2

Try www.ebay.com type make and model of player and scroll through the list, also check www.whafedale.com contact customer support and the technical department.

The problem is in the power supply board, often caused by a defective capacitor that becomes open, cap value is usually around 1000uf and sometimes shows a bulge at top leaking contents, if you are handy with a soldering iron replace part with identical value and voltage rating and observe the polarity.

The main system control memory IC has damaged. It should be replaced. The work is very skilled one, and you need tech assistance.
