Viking Food Mixers - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
PLUG IN MY VIKING 1000 WATT MIXER AND NOTHING HAPPENS, WHAT IS WRONG?
If the motor shows continuity (Yellow and Blue wires), then you don't need to replace the heat protection fuse. Check the small circuit board in the plastic housing with the wires going in. Use your ohmmeter across the small 220 mfd capacitor to see if it is shorted - which was the problem with my daughter's VSM700. Replace with any small 200UFD capacitor that is over 10VDC and orient the cap so the negative lead goes to the half moon of the silkscreen on the top of the PCB.
It's completely dead - won't turn on. worked fine
You need to remove the motor and find the heat protection fuse on the side of the windings. The fuse is rated at 140 and has a red tip. You might be able to get one from Radio Shack but Viking sells them for $3. Solder into place and take care not to overheat while doing so.
Where do I go to repair Viking VSM500?
I found one location, but you probably will not like it. McNichols Electric in Detroit, Michigan was where Viking directed me. You can give them a call at 800-562-4226. It will probably cost you $150 to $200 to ship and repair. Very poor customer service on the part of Viking to make you pay 1/3 of the cost of the dang thing to repair something that should not have broken to begin with. I will never buy another viking product.
