My Pocket PC's wall charger

Hi,

yes, you are correct UBB cable, without power source, will not charge the device.

I think the problem is from the battery or the USB cord.

A dead battery won't charge.

Also, a defective USB cable won't charge the unit.

If you have a family or friend that uses this same pocket PC or something similar, borrow the USB charger/USB and test it with your, likewise the battery.

You can also test your USB on another pocket PC, to be sure if it is defective or not, before making any attempt in replacing the USB cord/charger or battery.

I the above makes sense to you.....

Good luck.

How do I take apart a ViewSonic PocketPc V36 to

Hello,

I've written a guide for another PDA / pocket pc before, having owned quite a few of them, they are all put together pretty much the same way, few screws on the back and then clips hold the front and back together, so just follow what is shown on this guide

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251162-replacing_hp_compaq_ipaq_h3600_h3800

You may have to improvice, but the information on that page is enought to take apart almost any pocket pc / pda device.

as it is not rocket science how these are build and put together.

The small battery will most likely be soldered into the mainboard of the device, I think I've seen it on another device but never had to replace it.

Let me know if you have any further questions or if you need anything else.
Thanks,
Ekse

I can not transfer files from my mac to veb620,

in terms of file support all the usual suspects are covered: ePUB, PDF, FB2, TXT, HTML, and XML, although it lacks support for more complex documents like Microsoft Excel or Word documents. Support for JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, and MP3 files

suggestion try converting a file to any of these supported files by VS...see if it works if so do all..
before conversion make a copy for back up of the file

Repair switch of viewsonic pocket pc v36

Very carefully. I only would do it after you have verified the warranty is expired per Viewsonic. If it is OOW, then you can call them for a service manual that contains schematics, troubleshooting flowcharts, etc.

Changing the language

Hi, Pocket PC's have Windows OS installed on them. As with computers, you woun't find any option to change the language of the operating system. Your computer comes with english Windows, and however you try, it woun't be an option to change the language of the whole OS. It is the same with PDA's. But even harder than that, each PDA comes with a specific Windows, altrought it is the same version to other PDA's it has some specific things to each model. You can't install a Windows made for HP Ipaq to a Dell PDA because it will simply not work. Also, the language wich is skipped with a PDA is not to be changed. The producing company will consider this ilegal in some cases. I don't know why but they simply woun't want to change the language for you. However, there some triks to do that your self. To change a language means to change the whole operating system installed in the ROM memory. But like I said, the producers woun't simply allow that, and when you will try to install a diferent language ROM on the PDA it will give you some errors. I know of some ways to deal with this, but it works only for HP PDA's. It will be risky to try it on your own PDA. Also it is a fairly complicated process, involving hexazecimal editing and decompiling a ROM image. The simplest thing you can do is to go to a service center (other that viewsonic's one or major service facilities) and ask them to do that for you.

It says wait fifteen seconds and thats it

I believe you have an application that is conflicting with the system.

On the back of the device is a battery power switch, you will need to flip this and hard-reset the device. WARNING: You will loose all the information on the device.

At this point you can try updating, restoring your data, and then re-install your applications one at a time.

Start Up Problem

Ok Here is the REAL way to fix this: Most people dont think the V36 - V37 neet to be put back to " out of the box " settings, SO....

1. Turn off the main switch ( behind the battery door V36 ) (ON OFF on the bottom, back V37 )

2. Remove the battery V36 no need V37

3. Heres the one everyone overlooks REMOVE ANY STORAGE CARDS

4. Give it about five min to sit

5. Return the battery V36 NOTE: plug in the ac power source now, NEVER DO ANY UPDATES OR RESTARTS WITH OUT THIS PLUGED IN, IF THE BATTERY IS WEEK OR THE UNIT SHUTS DOWN YOU GET TO START ALL OVER !

6. Turn on the power switch

7. Wait for the unit to start, go through the start up instructions on your unit.

8. VERY IMPORTANT: This sucks, you have to clear and re-format your storage card there may be something there that is conflicting with your unit, I know this sucks, I know, but move any files you want to keep, picts, documents, excel files etc to your PC or Laptop for safe keeping, DO NOT KEEP BACK UP FILES OR PROGRAMS INSTALLED HERE, they can cause problems. Once you re-format your card move your files back to your storage card, if the problem happens again then its a file you may have saved so at this point clear the card of ALL files start at number 1 and when you get back to 9 everything should work just fine.

9. You are ready to start over, install first any patch files for the folding keyboard, keyboard drivers or IO card drivers first, that will insure they will work, if you start installing other programs they may write files to your unit that will prevent them from installing correctly.

10. Install your reformatted storage card and start re-installing your software.

I hope this helps, I have owned the V35, V36 and V37 Viewsonic Pocket PC's and have had my fair share of problems with them but nothing that cant be fixed somehow and no more than any other Pocket PC's out there.

Need to replace the screen on my Viewsonic V35

If you have cracked the screen the only way to get that fixed is to send it back to whoever the manufacturer is, I have never seen anywhere that will just replace the screen in any phone shop, but you know what, they do have small repair shops in most cell phone companies, maybe give them a call, worse case scenerio they can at least give you the number to contact someone who can fix it...
