I have a Vector VEC1378
I have the same and bought a $20 6v lead acid replacement from the Batteries Store. There are 4 small screws hidden under the foam rubber ring pad on the bottom. Very easy to open and swap out the battery. That said if you want to sell me your old lantern as is, I would enjoy having a second one for camping. Thanks and good luck. I can be reached at rudock1 at yahoo dot com. -Billy
I simply need to know what the 3 colored LEDs on
Red, Yellow, Green are the battery level indicators, Red being the lowest like a fuel gauge. If the green comes on right away after plugging in the charger then it must not indicate the charge cycle. If its a 3Ah battery whats the charger output amperage? Then you could just do the math to figure out how long it would take to charge that battery to full with the output. Otherwise it shouldn't hurt it to leave it plugged in overnight or at least a few hours to charge it.
What does a fault signify?
I hate this about automatic electronic battery chargers; they shut down when the battery isn't perfect. The battery may have an internal short or the specific density of the electrolyte may be high or low. The plates may be sulfated as well. An old-fashioned non-electronic charger would have charged it anyway.
