Gas ignites with lever ignition but when lever is released gas cuts out
I can't tell what kind of appliance you're talking about.... but, here's what I know.. This "lever" you're talking of kind of stumps me, but try, after the gas lights, to hold the lever in the position you had when you lit the flame. Hold it on for about a minute... then release it... and see if the flame will remain going. If you can't keep the flame going "no matter what", you probably need to clean or replace the flame sensor.

I just had this Valor
No, I have mine in manual mode, then hit the red (off) key and large flame key ( top right) at the same time. You should hear a click followed by a series of clicks as the pilot light turns on and then the gas valve opens and it should light. Having said that, I happen to have two that were installed at the same time. Unfortunately one has a bad remote control. I found that out after switching and syncing the remotes to the other insert. The good remote works on both and the bad one on neither. The bad remote would not let me set the time.

I have an AF16N. You just turn the knob and light with a match. Do you have a user manual? I'm desperate for one - willing to pay!!! Have had to disconnect the fire until I find a manual.PLEASE contact me on

We have just replaced the
If a flame will ignite, then the pilot, thermocouple, valve, etc. is all good.
If it has a piezo electric ignitor, that usually works from pushing a button.
You should hear a snap from a spring, and see the arc.
If you don't, then the piezio electric ignitor is probably bad.
But if the control is just a rotary knob and no push button, then this is one that has to have power run to it, or a pilot light.
