If removing the battery and reinstalling it doesn't work, I think you need a new one. That error message doesn't appear on any searches relating to a phone.

You could try a Hard Reset, which clears everything off the phone, although it seems to indicate, it just deletes things you have saved. One a 'normal', 'modern' phone a hard reset reloads the operating system.

That phone doesnt use sim cards. In the U.S., there are two different cellular technologies: CDMA and GSM (most of the rest of the world uses GSM). Up until 4G-LTE came along, CDMA phones didnt use sim cards. The cdm7176 is an older CDMA phone and thus doesn't have a sim slot.

Depends on the phone but most likely it's under the battery. If not there, then look for a slot on the side of the phone, covered with either a small rectangular piece of rubber or an easily removed piece of hard plastic.

That being said, some models won't have a sim card. It depends on the carrier and the phone. Sprint, Verizon, & others that use their networks (such as Virgin) only started using sim cards when 4G LTE was launched. If the phone isnt designed for LTE and the phone is a CDMA phone (the technology that Sprint & Verizon use) then it wont have a sim card unless it the phone was also designed for use abroad (E.g. Europe).

Have you tried *#06# and then "Ok" or "Call" or simply type in *#06# on the main menu (on the screen as you type numbers). If this isn't helpful, then it must be written somewhere inside the battery compartment. Turn off the phone and look inside the compartment where the model number is written.

Probably a bad cable. Try different cable. If still no results remove battery from the phone 5 minutes then re install, power up the phone and try again.

There are a few things I am going to need you to do to get that touch screen working for you.
1. Turn off your phone and wait 15 seconds and then turn it on. This should clear any software issues you were having.
If that did not work then,
2. Take out the SIM card and then turn off your phone and turn it on again. Sometimes the SIM card is the problem and it can cause problems on your phone.
3. Update your devices software to the newest software available.
4. This is the most drastic way to fix a phone. Hard reset. This is a last resort option because it will reset everything on the device to the manufacture setting. This is how you do this for your phone.

Hold the two buttons to the left and right of the windows and then old and press the OK button.
Then press the reset button. PRess Y and it will do a hard reset. Anything additional you added to your phone WILL be erased.
5. If this did not work contact the manufacture for selling you a faulty device.
