Try this fix, it usually does the trick....

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
   
   Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 7.
5. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
7. In the right pane, click LowerFilters.

8. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
9. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
10. Exit Registry Editor.
11. Restart the computer.

Follow this guide, it is a registry edit and should work, if you do not have the upper filters mentioned, do not worry, delete what filters are listed.

You need an antivirus program to be installed after installing your operating system. Do it in safe mode. If problem persists let me know.

I would imagine the voltage regulator in the adapter brick it dying...it will fry your motherboard if it starts throwing off power spikes. laptops need good consistent power flow of the right voltage. Buy another adapter.

Maybe your CPU Cooling Fans has a problem.You can change it,and check out your laptop battery.

Have you done anything that caused this to happen - reinstall Windows for example?

You probably need to re-install the touchpad drivers. Go to Acer support site and download and install touchpad drivers for your model.

try to change the keyboard properties on the control panel and update yourkeyboard lay out to suit your need by select the right keyboard lay out. (English 102/103keys) or (Japanese 106/109keys) and please select the regional and language setting to suit with your computer maker. (i.e: if you computer made in japan, so the keyboard layout MUST be the 106/109keys keyboard).

Connect your computer to the internet, open your browser and minimize it, the on start menu, find 'My Computer' and right click on it and choose the 'properties' on context menu, on the properties box, click the hardware tabs, and choose the device manager, wait... and on yhe device manager click the yellow question mark appear on the sound device, right click and choose the 'Update driver'... Let the wizard take you to the web and find it, if driver available on the web, download it and save on your folder somewhere in you computer. After dowload complete, do the last step and direct your soundCard driver to the folder you have already download.

Check to see if it is getting air inside, especially the heatsink/fan. If there is cruddy dust, clean it off.

your problem is a faulty ccfl BackLight Inverter, the display uses the backlight to illuminate the lcd screen, the inverter is used to illuminate the cold cathode light in the back of ther lcd theirs countless places to laern about it on google.
They are cheap to replace google your model with inverter at the end..
I cannot say how many I have replaced in Acer systems
I know for a FACT this is the problem. They are cheap inverters.
When you replace this one i would expect it to last longer :)

If you register your computer with toshiba and explain the situation. You should be able to go toshiba website or call them, and they should be able to give you a serial, after verifing addational information.

Hi I encounter this problem before. one of those 2.5 hdd. The only way to resolve this is to install the recovery cd and thru format the HDD. I know you will lose all your file. So far that is the solution I can provide you. Until now I am looking for a way to resolve this problem with out losing any file and still restore the hard drive. I hope this will help you to restart your laptop and without spending or buying a new hard drive.

take a flashlight and look at the LCD screen and see if there is a faint picture to it. if there is, its a bad backlight.

if no picture you can hook an external monitor to it and switch the mon out to the external. usually this requires a FN key + monitor select function key pressed at the same time.
