Hiya..just my opinion..forget media centre, download VLC player..It will ask if you want it as your default media plater..Say Yes (it plays all formats) if that doesn`t solve the missing DVD player, update your drivers from the Toshiba site. Failing THAT.. Google " CD/DVD run repair" I have had the same problem and there are a few free programs to fix problems. Just ideas of the top of my head . good luck Pete [email protected]

I would say the laptop is done. You have given it more than enough time to dry out so you have shorted out something on the motherboard. Remove the hard drive so that you have access to the information stored on it. You can pick up a refurbished laptop from micro center for under 200.00.

Just scan your windows file using the command sfc /scannow in command prompt.

It could be a sympton of display cable failure or the display has failed, try plugging into an external source such as a monitor or tv and then try booting, if you get a display then it is the notebook screen or cable that may be faulty, hope this helps. Keith

check the power ic of the laptop with laptop technicians

if boot up but slow, you have tot test memory amount and speed and temperature of cpu cooler. if your hard drive is not have 100% smart feature test result, may be slow down. it is rarely with power problem. but you can test with another AC Adapter.

why you not try to select last known good configuration. it will fix your blue screen error. it is may be a registry error or driver configuration error,but if you can fix disk errors with chkdsk command after select safe mode with command line. chkdsk c: /f

Normally you can do that in the bios

go to control panel> keyboard > select language> select american or english key board > apply and ok

The toshiba software included with laptop will give you the protocol for performing a recovery operation.. Look in the Toshiba folder in hard drive . You will have a choice of a repair option or restore to factory defaults which erases everything you may have done and returns unit to condition it was in brand new out of the box.

When you say that the hard drive works I have to ask how you know. There are not many parts in a laptop that would make a clicking noise. One of them is the hard drive. Is there any display activity at all? Lights on the unit that come on?

Using a volt meter check the output of your adapter. If not within specs it is no good.

Did you replace it with an identical part? Should work fine if you did. I would contact Toshiba tech services for guidance on this matter. Have you tried it with an external monitor?

On the front of the laptop, you'll see a blocked opening about the size of your sd card. Press and release the blank and it will pop out. Pull it out and then insert sd card and follow the prompts. As far as your dvd player, the settings are in the properties of the dvd player. You can taylor them as needed.

Hi, There are some problems which may cause that: 1. Memory defect. 2. South bridge defect. 3. Bios Defect. Try this one to find out which one is your problem: 1. Remove your battery and plug the external monitor via VGA or HDMI port and turn your laptop on with the AC cord attached to the outlet. When you can see its welcome screen via external monitor then it has a problem in its LVDS driver. But when you see nothing then try the second step. 2. Unplug the Cmos battery located under the palm rest on the left side of the touch pad, wait for about 2 minutes and then you can try to turn it on. When nothing appears on the screen then the problems may cause by your south bridge defect. To know this problem just touch your south bridge while it is turned off, when it is warm then your south bridge is working but something wrong with its pin. When it is cold then your south bridge has a problem in it. When you see the two above step yield nothing then better for you to bring it to a service centre. Good luck

Try doing a system restore to a point prior to your recent driver update if you have Windows 7. If you have Windows 8, you can rollback the driver without doing a system restore (going into Device Manager). If you need a driver update for your video card, go to that manufacturer's website or to the Toshiba website for your machine. Speccy or HWinfo are freeware programs that might help you identify video components. You might have to do an uninstall of the driver and then an installation of the proper one from the Toshiba site.

try boot up by hiran boot cd ,also pls check it with reset bios settingsalso SATA mode AHCI or IDE? and execute disable bit on

remove the ram and battery try to power on. also you can power off add install ram without battery if power up . if battery light is amber and blink speed. pls check the battery .if not battery charge pls check the battery and charge circuit
