Usually, you connect your TomTom to your computer, and use the TomTom software (e.g. HOME) to update (e.g. buy, download and install) your map(s). If your question is about how to copy a (new / another) map on your computer to your TomTom device (i.e. without using the TomTom HOME software), you can simply copy the "map" folder (of the map on your computer) to your TomTom Device (that you've connected to your computer). You may have other questions like, is there enough memory on your TomTom device for the map ?; is the (new/other) map version compatible for the TomTom (model/version) device that you have ?; is the map "activated" to run on your TomTom device? etc.

The TomTom LIVE (service) allows your device to access (& use) real time traffic information, weather info, fixed and mobile speed cameras, etc. to determine and offer you options to use an alternate (better/faster) route ... e.g. avoid traffic jams, etc.

You need to go to tomtom.com and make a free account, download the app to your computer, then it will talk to the computer and update.

Usually, it takes longer to find the satellite signa if you are indoors, under structures and/or don't have a clear "line of sight" to the satellites in the sky, assuming you're in a (geographical) area where there's usable satellites .... e.g. not in the middle of the Ocean. If you are not experiencing these conditions, and it still take a long time, it will help if you download and install the latest QuickGPSFix update from the TomTom website, using HOME (software).

pos ur computer is not recognising the usb connection.have u tried all ports....

you shouldn't have to unless uve exceeded ur memory or ur expansion card.but if so u can normaly choose what u want to deleat

Bad battery is not the cause of issue. When you plug unit into computer it is powered by computer so battery condition is not the problem. Try plugging it into another computer and see what happens. Then you can draw your own conclusions whether the computer or GPS is at fault.
