If it doesn't light, the LED flashes and the display shows an error code 9 which suggests a problem with the gas. The gas has been checked and the pressure is fine (I've also tried in on a different gas bottle).

i don't know. a bit of wet baking soda may fuzz the corrosion away. WD40 OR AN ELECTRICAL CLEANER MY LET BATTERY SLIP OUT EASIEST.

I had an outfit that the wires were too short and if there is enough length cut the wire and get a longer piece of wire. and solder it together. taping the open wire.
I had one I took the connector that goes on the battery and fastened on a longer wire and soldered them together. Only do this if you understand what you are doing.

that is the whole idea of foam pads, they start at 4" and compress in those parts of your body that aren't flat. The heavier you are the more they compress.
