Where do I hook up my Teac 1200 Reel to Reel to my Kenwood Kenwood VR309
This will all depend on the age of the equipment and what connectors are on each one. Could you post photos of the panels on them showing what connector ports are actually there. How old is the reel to reel? The really early 1970's models will probably not work or will need specialist cable adapters to get it to connect to the Kenwood and even then it may not work. The 80's and some of the 90's ones used Component, Phono or Jack Plug connectors. The really modern ones use Optical cables.
In general it usually sets up by connecting to the "OUT" port on the reel to reel and the matching "IN" port on the Kenwood.
My TEAC CD/RW 890 comes on and just says COM ERROR. It won't open or do anything else.
Hi Albert, for what you say, COM ERROR, corresponds to an internal communication problem, try disconnecting the TEAC, from the power outlet, wait a couple of minutes and reconnect it, the problem should be solved
This is indicated on page 26 of the User Manual
If not, you would have a more complicated problem and I suggest you consult a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

Try different USB cable and different port on your PC. Then look for driver and uninstall - plug back in and reinstall driver. Try above on another PC to help determine cause. If none of these work, I recommend a swap on a working laptop and use a boot CD known as EBCD to attempt recovery. You need another computer to make one of these, but make a EBCD, emergency boot CD. With this made, boot failed computer to the CD by hitting the boot sequence or similar message on initial powerup (BIOS). Then follow instructions once this CD boots up. See link below. I recovered one this way a few weeks ago.

Check for updated firmware on Dells support site. There's only one laser to read, write. If it's reading it should write unless the switching eprom is bad or outdated, udated firmware should solve the problem

Teac le5588fhd TV firmware
The firmware can be obtained free of charge by calling 1300 55 33 15 Option 1 or 2 and asking for it. This number is the Teac Aust helpdesk. You would normally need the serial number of the TV but this model had only 1 production run and there is only 1 version of the firmware. I am the National Warranty Service co-ordinator for Teac Aust.

Is the replacement drive a new unused drive from the factory or did you purchase it from another supplier? Just off hand, I'd say it's not the correct drive for your system. Laptop drives do not have jumpers to designate what drive it is (like desktop drives do). They come from the factory pre-configured and have no way to change from say master to slave, or cs.
TEAC CD/DVD problems
Hmm, sounds different to the usual problems I've come across but try this:
Paste the following into a new text document and "Save As..." type "All Files (*.*)" and call it "DVD Fix.bat"
@ECHO OFF
REG DELETE "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" /v "UpperFilters /f > NUL
ECHO Press any key to restart the computer.
PAUSE > NUL
Shutdown.exe -r -t 0 -f -c "UpperFilters reg key removed to fix CD/DVD-ROM" -d p:2:3
Run the file and restart your computer when prompted.
If you're trying to write to a blank disc, make sure in the drive's properties that you have recording/burning enabled. If you do, try re-installing your CD/DVD burning suite. If you didn't have one, try a system restore.
If this doesn't work or you've disable system restore, you can go into hardware manager and roll-back the driver. If you don't have a roll-back available. uninstall the driver and restart your computer. A default Windows driver should then install.
Check the drive is physically performing - does it load/eject the disc? Does it spin-up? Are you able to read any discs?
I you have any further problems, it would help if we had the model name of your laptop.
