Sunbeam iron red light never turns green

Unit has a warranty. You have 2 choices keep it or return it for another one. Personally I would return it for a new one.

Sunbeam steam valet instructions

How to fill your Sunbeam Steam Valet Here is how you fill your Steam Valet. Press the small button on the back of the handle and pull bottom of handle apart from the top half of steam valet. Then take off the white cap on the inside of the handle and fill with water to top. Place cap back onto the opening and slide handle back and click in place. Plug in and you're ready to steam within a few minutes. If it spits out water let heat up a little longer if that doesn't stop it then tie a thin cloth over the top part where steam comes out to keep the water from spitting out onto your fabric. Hope these instructions are clear enough. More questions about this iron go to www.manualslib.com.
