try a wired controller. those batteries on the wireless controllers are cheap. the console might be dirty so cleaning the air vents can help it run smoothly. as long as its not overheating then youre good to go.
This happened to me a few years back so I apologize if it's not 100% accurate. If you can get it to work on another TV, go ahead and connect it to that, and go in to the settings to select the video input. If it's connected through an HDMI cable, then it will probably be set to HDMI. Change the input here to whatever cable you used in the living room. You will have to power it off at this stage, but when you connect to the other TV it should work.
PS3 may have been doing an update of some kind and you have interrupted it and damaged the system software.
You might be able to download the system software and install it back back it will most likely wipe everything saved on your ps3.
Not sure how to do this as I have never turned off the power during an update ?

Also you could have instead interrupted a need for speed update. It needs to update to play in network mode .

try reverting to the old version, check if the games are still on the drive of the system. You could also re download the games you had purchased if that's a thing that you could maybe possibly do.
