Sony Clie PEG-TH55
There are very limited original resources to get parts for obselete products. However you can check ebay.com time to time as frequently many sellers selling Sony Clie Parts.

After linking to my desktop and doing a two
The solution is in the same message in which I stated the problem as I hit upon it before I sent the message. It is here for free as I discovered it ' by the hand of the Almighty'. As the pda is rebooting when doing a soft reset try to jiggle the 'on-off' switch off. If nothing happens repeat the process. At some stage the machine should switch off. Now things should be OK. I don't know why it worked for me but I hope it works for you.

Unable to perform hot sync
Here is what you need to do. Unplug the device from the computer. Shut the computer down and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Restart the compture and once everything has loaded up, plug the device back in. That should fix the problem. For some reason the computer thinks that whatever was plugged into the USB previously is still there. Make sure when you unplug your devices from the computer that you are stopping them before unplugging them. You can do this by going to My Computer and right clicking on the device and then clicking stop. If you do this you will hopefully avoid this problem in the future. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using FixYa!

Unable to initiate hot sync
Really need to know what method you're using to sync. Is it USB, Serial or Bluetooth? Do you sync any other devices to your computer, such as your cell phone or ipod. Restart the computer and disconnect everything that is not necessary, even keyboard and mouse, if you can use the one built into your laptop. When the computer restarts, make sure there is no software running except for the hotsync manager. Try to sync and see if it works.
If that does not work, try following these steps:
Try setting up a local com port using the add a printer function. I
set up a com40 using the add printer then also set up a generic text
printer to associate with the port.
Go to Control Panel
Select add a printer
Select add new port
Select local port and call it COM40
When asked to install printer, select generic
Then select Generic Text printer
Do not make this your default
Restart you pc
After the install completes, go to hot sync and select local
Select com40 and OK
Set up your palms blue tooth for trusted (you will have to enter a passkey into both devices)
Go to the palms hotsync and select your pc
Then select the center hot sync icon.
You will have to enter your passkey into both devices and OK
You palm will go thru a soft reset
After the reset, reselect the hotsync from your palm

Palm cannot be turned on
If the battery is not charging or there are other charging issues, first try disconnecting / reconnecting the white battery connector or replace the battery. The details are below:

Good luck.

Sony Clie n760 memory stick not detected when inserted
Do you share this memory stick with other devices? If you pulled out the memorystick before the device(s) were finished closing the connection, the card may be corrupted. Another thing may be because your memory stick may be too large for your handheld to support. if you don't wanty to refund your $ just shrink the memory stick into a gig or less. You have to have a pc with a memory card reader that supports memory stick. just open up my computer> right click the memory stick> Fortmat and select a smaller size to format to.

Display dark
The backlight is turned off. Slide down the power switch (on side of unit, lower right) and hold it for more than 2 seconds. This should turn the backlight on.

Hot sync with vista
I have Vista Home Premium and I hotsync my peg-n760c using Palm Desktop. It came with version 4.1, but it was a disaster. The Cd is old and isn't compatible with Vista. So I downloaded an upgrade from Palm.com and I definitely don't use the Jukebox software that came with it either. Go to Palm.com and download PalmDesktop Win62.exe and install it. It should recognize your USB connection and hotsync immediately. Also, use Windows Media Player and change the files to mp3 by using a free program called Switch. Just google Switch and download the basic program. Then load the mp3 files onto your memory stick in Windows Explorer. Then use MSimport to load the memory stick files into your handheld. Good luck!
