Probably be cheaper to get new one, it has probably had the compressor fail or a leak in the cooling system.

There could be more than one problem but to start get some one to check the Freon pressure. Could be a simple fix if a line sprung a leak. We got ours fixed for about eighty dollars.

Do you still have the old?
If you have old then connect meter to the leads , measure continuity. Get hair dryer set hot and blow on old thermostat.
watch meter for reaction.
Since you replaced you could remove new one and measure resistance this time apply low heat. Watch meter as it warms resistance should go lower.
place thermostat in cold place and measure that resistance should be much higher. All that proves is thermostat is working.

do you wait
for the cold air to balance inside the fridge after opening it and closing it often

try vasaline on the seal edges

if the handle or hinges are the problem
will require replacement parts or adjustment

Sounds like the compressor is going check you manual for the extended warranty it may be covered good luck
