You realize people reading this have no idea what this mumbo-jumbo means. Brett has no idea and he is the master of all masters in lateral thinking! 'make model (what it is)', plus a detailed description of the issue!

SMC Networks serves up networking equipment, with or without wires. The company makes wireless local area network (LAN) devices designed for use in homes and businesses.

Try this:

1) Unplug the power
2) Push and hold the reset button
3) Plug in power
4) Continue to hold the reset switch for 30 seconds

Plug your computer into one of the LAN ports, TCP/IP should be set to get it's settings from DHCP.

Open a DOS window and type IPCONFIG

Note the gateway address - open up a web browser and go to address http://GatewayAddress < Put the number there!

The default pasword for this router is smcadmin < All lower case

There suppose to be a reset button on it mainly on the back of it

different USB port. There are usually 3 or 4 of them. If you can, format the USB drive (if you have nothing on it or already have copies of what is on it). It will take 10 seconds, but will wipe all data. It should be recognized then.

You need to install the driver disk that came with the USB adapter. Your PC correctly pointed out that the internal WI-FI adapter is not working but the USB adapter should be showing on the taskbar of the driver is installed correctly.

look for a windows xp driver file on the included program compact disc that may need to be installed before you use the included program.

Basic question but have you tried restarting the computer? Some networking issues are resolved by a simple restart. Otherwise can you open a command prompt (click the Start button and type cmd) and run the following command: ipconfig /all You should see an IPv4 or IP address in the list. Can you confirm that it starts with 192.168.x.x? Most home IP addresses will have this format. Do not provide your full IP address as this could be a security risk.

Try this.... First, make sure your laptop is 'not' connected to the modem/router via an Ethernet cable and follow the steps: 1. Go to "Control Panel". 2. Next go to "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing". 3. Now click on "Manage Wireless Networks". 4. On this screen, remove all wireless connections by "right clicking" on it and select "Remove network" from the drop down menu. 5. After doing this, close the oepn windows and reboot the computer. 6. Once the computer is fully reloaded, scan for the "Wi-Fi networks". 7. Click on the available network that you want to access and select "connect". 8. It takes a moment, but then you will be asked to give a password for your Wi-Fi connection. Type in the password and click the "connect" button. It should now be connected. NOTE: If this doesn't work, you may want to reset your modem/router, and then once it is fully loaded again, repeat the above steps. If this doesn't work, test seeing if your laptop will connect via Ethernet. If so, then your WiFi card may be going. You can either look to replace it/have it replaced, or get an external (plugs in via USB) WiFi card.

Call your ISP and have them approve the new device.

We have satellite Internet. They say everything is OK, but every few days I have to unplug my modem from the satellite, reboot, and everything is OK again. So I put a timer on mine, and it reboots every morning about 3.

I believe your router has two antennas. Try moving one horizontal and the other vertical. If that doesn't work move the equipment closer to each other to see if it is a distance problem. OR if you have a laptop, see if the laptop connects to the router from the Wii location. If it has the same problem, the router may not be transmitting a strong enough signal.

first check the wires and connections check that the land line is operational unless the modem can communicate to the servers by that line . it will continue to blink until the connection is made

try to reset modem/router and then configure again.

remove the key protection cover the little black bit and insert key

did you put the modem in bridge mode? try plugging computer into to the modem to see if the internet is working then add router to see if it has internet at the router. try pinging the router and the modem

if sound is working on laptop but not on skype, then the settings in skype needs to be set to you audio. go in to skype setting and audio and click on your audio and make it default, same for the mic choose the one you have and make it default. and click on save or ok when done.

Are you sure you got a compatible modem? They are not all alike.
