I've done this, and it's a pain, but can be done. Let me also tell you that quite a few users have broken theirs and just used the machine without it, but others said that they had to replace theirs. First of all, the wire guide is held UNDERNEATH the needle clamp, and what you have to do is insert them back in one piece. That is, remove the clamp, insert the end of the guide, then push them together on the shaft as one unit. The end of the thread guide sticks up over the top of the clamp in the back. There is a very tiny screw there that's supposed to hold it, but most machines are produced without the end going underneath that screw--they just let the needle clamp hold it. That screw is VERY tiny and VERY difficult to access, and will come out completely after only a few turns. Worse yet, it serves as a "stop" for the end of your needle, so if you lose it, you'll have to use something like a toothpick to "stop" the end of the needle until you can replace it. ASK ME HOW I KNOW! It is easier to deal with if you put the machine on its side when you do this.

No, dont go and buy another machine. This is a great value for money machine.

Your problem is most certainly with the buttonhole switch. Firstly: Look if the buttonhole lever, left back of machine, is push up in position. Pull it down and push it up to the top again. This should sove your problem right away. The beeping sound is a warning message. If the problem persist, do the following procedure:

Remove the light cover, left of the machine, loosen back screw and remove left hand screw completely. Check for a small black electric switch, follow the brown and green elecrtic wire, just back of the light. If you push the BH lever up and down the switch finger should also move up and down. If it stays down, the machine will not work and give a beeping sound. If the switch finger is stuck, push it up with the BH in top position. Hope this will help you

First, make sure the bobbin-winding spindle (located on top of your machine) has been pushed back to the left for sewing. If it is not in the correct position, the needle will not go down and pick-up your bobbin thread. ... Make sure the presser foot is up when seating the thread through the upper tension

Try changing stitch pattern, length, and width to a typical straight stitch and see if problem goes away.

If problem clears then likely it needs a thorough clean and lube. The grease in the old cam style machines hardens and cam follow levers seize and strange actions occur.

Try dropping feed dogs and see if they move.

Does it still bring bottom thread to top after you rethread? No, then lower shaft drive issue or possibly timing belt.
