Using a Canon flash gun on a Nikon body is going to give all kinds of problems. Best way is to set everything to manual, then experiment until you obtain the result you are after.

Unless you're a qualified lens specialist with dust-free laboratory conditions, correct tools, alignment equipment etc, not advisable. Rather take it in to a pro for assessment and quote. If you're lucky, they may be able to diagnose the fault and give you a rough quote. Sounds like internal gearing is worn / loose. Has lens ever been dropped?

with the flash on, I would think most pictures would be bright white. Try turning the flash off, use a different setting than P.

Just answer a few quick questions about its performance, value for money etc and the link to download the manual opens up. Just be careful, because there is also a manual for the Nikon version of the same flash and they are a little different.

It is unlikely that the manufacturer sells spares to the public - safest to get it fixed professionally.

For any camera, you need high power re-chargeable batteries - 2300 mAh or 2500 mAh. Try with a set of those. I have heard Eneloop suggested, but have no experience myself.

Would it not have been a good idea to check the two items were compatible prior to purchasing the camera ?

Very good question - what is it, and what's wrong with it ?

It depends totally on whether your camera takes interchangeable lenses, and if so, do these lenses have the same fitting ? Your camera manual should tell you if you can fit other lenses to the body - if so, follow the steps to remove the lens which is currently attached, and compare the fitments with this lens and the two others you have been given. If you are still not sure, then take it all to your local friendly camera dealer, who will be able to advise you. Do NOT try to force the new lenses onto the body - this is a sure way to render them inoperable.

Do what anyone else would do. Search for it on Amazon or ebay or any other place you can find the lense....go to the manufacturers page, etc.

What focal length lens is this ?

I believe on some Sigma lenses there is a switch to lock it in a 'Macro' position, usually at the long end of the zoom range. If this applies to your lens, it may be worth checking that this has not been accidentally set. There may also be some information in the manual whichcame with the lens.
