Why is my garage door suddenly reversing when going down?

Deb, that reversal is a child safety device - if the bottom edge of the door detects contact with any object, it'll immediately reverse so it doesn't kill a child. Or a cat, dog, whatever. The opener mechanism should have a stop switch that prevents the door from closing hard against the floor - that stop switch needs to be adjusted so that the door will stop JUST before hard contact. That'll take care of it "bouncing" off the floor & reversing. As to it reversing before it touches the floor... examine both guide rails closely to see if there's any obstruction that the door's bottom edge may be contacting to trigger the child protection reversal switch.

What could be the problem with garage door opener?

Many openers have a short length of wire that serves as a primitive antenna; ensure the wire is hanging free. The remote is a radio frequency transmitter, the other end in the garage has a tuned receiver. Either one of these can drift from their original operating frequency which then can cause the system to fail. Most modern openers are encoded so that they can resist operating with CBs and amateur radio signals and most require a one-time operation that allows the inside receiver to recognize (and remember) its dedicated remote by its frequency and the unique code the remote produces. While this principle makes openers more secure, it also allows for more failures of the type you are having. Take a look at the manuals available at the following site to see is there is one close enough to your model number to let you restore the programming between remote and receiver: Free Craftsman Garage Door Opener User Manuals ManualsOnline com

Sometimes theres a tiny reset button hidden in the batt area. Are you positive that the new batt is fully charged silly Question but Iv\'e gotten burned on special size batts its like the sit on shelf and no body cycles their stock...Im assuming the manual is nowhere to be found? Almost is like I had a remote to a blue ray that was acting crazy turns out one of the buttons was being pushed constantly and not letting any other logic take its place have you ever changed batt before? what happens if you putt old batt back in? What does it take on your end to "reprogram" it? this odd of results may require a phone call or a downloaded manual from the internet. How did you know to enter the learn mode? is there a users manual but not a trouble shooting manual? Ive heard that powering it up and entering the model # directly after auto prog\'s logic also some times holding 1 and enter or 1,0, and power// or 1and power. hope at minimum I gave you a few options (damn this digital world!!! ) good luck friend let us know outcome...S

Chamberlain troubleshooting

Check to see if sensors (eye) on sides of door are lined up, they need to be looking directly at each other. If that doesn't work change sensors, simple, install, hook up 2 wires per sensor, wire with line to same wire, blank wire to same blank wire and align so sensors see each other. My Sears 3/4 HP garage door opener opens the door about 1', then will not go past this point. It will close it as well. I have taken the door off the chain and the chain will run without the door at

1. disconnect the door from the chain. 2. inspect the door again, try oiling the rollers and joints. It is the chain that lifts the door. Try manually lifting the door. If it still does not lift open, it is the door and not the Opener unit. 3. Although you don't see kinks, look for any obstructions eg. the track. 4. Make sure the track has not lossened out at any point. 5 If you can lift the door,. connect with the chain. Goog luck. Basically I think it is the door mechanism that has some how misalligned.

How do I replace sears side light bulb on door opener

To replace the bulb you have to remove the plastic cover which is held on with tabs and one or two sheet metal screws (usually on the top of the unit). The bulb is in a standard light socket. It is best to replace it with a bulb that resists vibration such as a ceiling fan bulb.

How to replace the lift capaciter on a chmaberlain garage door opener

Most capacitors are just behind the outer cover. Remove the cover you will see the capacitor (looks like a D cell battery with terminals). Be careful not to get a shock, they store power. using insulated needle nose pliers pull off the connectors. Take a phicture with your phone before removing the wires. Put the same wires back in the same place and secure the Capacitor with the clamp you loosened to remove it. Your motor will now be able to "start" from the current jolt it needs...................

How do you loosen the belt on a LiftMaster garage opener?

Get a 1/2in open ended wrench. On the left hand side of the belt (if you face the door), there is a small spring. At the end of the small spring there is a square nut. Loosen that nut by turning counter clockwise. This will loosen the belt.

How can I find a duplicate key that has broken in half?It has a number on one side CH751 and looks similar to a Master Lock key.

The fastest and easiest method to get this resolved is to use a locksmith. If you contact the manufacturer, they might not respond in a reasonable time or at all. Call around and see what a locksmith charges and what they recommend. If you have the broken key they might be able to cut a new one for you from the broken pieces. They may also be able to come out and pick it and then change the lock for you.

What does the purple button light flashing on 1/2 horsepower craftsman garage door opener

I think the adjustment mode is on. For example, that's from Craftsman manual: "" Setting the Force The force setting button is located on the left panel of the motor unit. The force setting measures the amount of force required to open and close the door. 1. Locate the purple button on the left panel of the motor unit (Figure 1). 2. Push the purple button twice to enter the opener into Force Adjustment Mode (Figure 2). The LED (Indicator Light) will flash quickly. 3. Push the remote control or control console (Figure 3). The door will travel to the DOWN (close) position. "" Actually, you should just read carefully your garage door opener unit's manual. Craftsman Garage Door Opener Remote
