This unit only supports MPEG4/H.264 file. The files format has to be .MP4. This unit cannot play all MPEG4/H.264 movie files. Most movies out there are converted using DivX or XviD codec so if you need to convert them to this supported format. It will mostly cost you time if you found a free converter.
If you don't have time. You might try my basic hack to add a 3rd party media player that will play almost everything out there and it also supports sub-titles. You can check out my video on YT @ http://www.youtube.com/KhaKev.
If your device still does not respond after performing "reset", disconnect all cables, including the car adaptor, from your device. Slide the battery ON/OFF switch on the bottom of the device to the OFF (left) position. Then slide it to the ON position again.
Make sure your GPS is not blocked. Try to acquire sattelite signals in an open and clear area. From Main Menu, tab Sys Info. and tab GPS Reset. After this, wait for a few minutes and check GPS Status again. Sometimes it takes a while depending where you are located.
Did you hear a beep when SD card is inserted? Did you also try to hard reset the unit using the On/Off switch located at the bottom of the unit? Try with another SD card and see if the SD option is selectabe. If all have tried I suggest you to exchange for another unit. HTH.
I hope I can help. I had the same problem and I took it back to the store to exchange it and the only thing they did was to reset the GPS. So just press the reset button for 2-3 seconds and see if it works. I hope it does. Good luck. :)
At the main menu press settings
press FM Transmitter
Turn transmitter on by pressing off. Will change to On
Press the Frequency button. Than change the frequency to one that doesnt have a radio station.
All sounds from the GPS will now be transmitted to the frequency set. Make sure your FM radio is set to the same frequency.
With my one vehicle this option does not work very well & is full of static because my radio entenna is at the rear of the car. The GPS only transmits a couple of feet.
I ended up in the same situation and called (800) 421-5013 for help. The gentelman who assisted me said that how the DVD holds the same data as factory Sanyo 4050 GPS and upgrading has locked your device. To resolve the discussed issue one have to delete everything (plug-in your device via USB cable --> My Computer --> Removable disk) and install fresh copy onto your navigation device via that DVD. Tried it with NO @!@ JOY
I have had the same problem. I just notice the power switch on the bottom of the unit. I believe if this one is used it will not lose power. The other power button is probably for a standby mode.
From what I've read, Sanyo doesn't plan on updating their product. I have this same GPS and after hours of trying to figure out a way to get some possible map updates on their I finally found a way, but its not using sanyo. I was able to figure out what to edit in the system and get it to load into Windows CE instead of the Sanyos GPS software. Ive got Garmin software on it now, Using Garmin Mobile XT and Garmins North America 2009 City Navigator Maps. Works like a Charm. I havn't got the bluetooth to work yet, Not really been trying to get the buetooth or the MP3 player to work with it. Not a real big concern to me since the bluetooth hands free isn't loud enough for me to hear anyways. and you can't use the gps and mp3 player at the same time so, I just basically have it as just a reliable GPS system using Garmin. If your interested in doing this yourself, send me an email and Ill respond back to you and Ill give you directions on what you will need. You will spend $0.00 dollars to do this and about an hour or two time on it. My email address is [email protected]
I got the chance to talk to 1st navteq and they requested that I speak with sanyo, then I got the chance to talk to sanyo customer service who couldn't offer any help other than asking me to wait till December or January when their version of 2009 map upgrade will be made available. There was one interesting revelation I kind of found out on Garmin 770 too; the same addresses could not be plotted or navigated by this also so I think it is a common factor and these are all somewhat new addresses of new developments. My suggestion will be wait till 2009 map upgrade is made available.
I had the same problem and what , I did 1st is in my lg shine phone is , I set a diffrent pass code , The on the gps , I reinstalled the back up disk and or reloaded the info for the gps after that do every thing you see on the gps .
