It is always better to buy Samsung Everything or LG everything or you end up with incompatibilities like this especially when mixing old and new equipment. FWIW, I would never buy an LG television Samsung are the leaders.

It's detecting a short, maybe in the speakers or a wiring issue. However even if you find the short it might be too late and has damaged the main power amp in the unit.

Both devices have to be able to use a certain HDMI function. And be able to use the highest quality HDMI cable. With those the TV or AV will turn on or off when the other is switched on or off.
