The printer needs to think it has all 4 toners present, and NOT at the end of their life.
There are two methods of achieving your goal of using this as a mon printer only.
1 - a zero cost option which works on a CLP-510, and may work on CLP-500.
Hold the MENU button down whe you switch the printer on. The printer will then start up in 'UNCHECKED CONSUMABLE' mode. You will have to remember to do this each time you turn the printer on.
2 Just replace the reset fuse modules on the Yelllow, Magenta and Cyan cartridges. Much cheaper than replacing the cartridge.
In both these cases, of course there's no more toner in them. but provided you ONLY print mono this shouldn't be a problem, and there's probably an option in the printer driver to set it for mono anyway (but the printer still needs to 'think' it has usable colurs cartridges in it).

is the ink so heavy it leaks thru? Is it printing previous prints lightly onto new prints? The first one maybe can be fixed- the second would be so weird and we would need to investigate more. Good luck

You need to enter the hidden engineer menu: turn the printer off then turn on again whilst holding down the enter key on the control panel. It should say something like EDC menu on the display and you can scroll through several menus to find the one about resetting counters. Be careful not to play with other options as you can screw the printer up if you don't know what you're doing!
What I have started to do is to actually wash the toner tank out with water and make sure it is good and dry then be sure the section that breaks the light sensor is good and clean (it is on the left side as you look at the backside - the side that goes toward the printer - and protrudes out) the tank full indication comes on when the tank gets dirty
Hello, Johnsong -
This YouTube video demonstrates cleaning of a Samsung CLP-300 printer, which seems very similar to the CLP-350N printer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ipw1RjwzUDg
It may prove instructive.
If you do not feel comfortable in doing this kind of disassembly, cleaning, and re-assembly work, I suggest you find an repair center in your area which is an authorized Samsung printer repair service and pay to have the cleaning done.
How to find an authorized Samsung printer repair service near you? Just use your favorite search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo Search, etc.) and use the following search phrase, with quotation marks as shown:
"Samsung printer repair"
Note: As of Nov. 1, 2017, the Samsung Electronics Co. printer business and its related affiliates were transferred to HP Inc. (Hewlett-Packard.)
You can also look here for Samsung printer repair service:

First, you will need to choose your Country/Region (located at the lower left of that web page.) (Since you use the British spelling of "colour", I assume you are not in the USA. :) I am answering from the USA.)
Then, when you are on the right web page for you location, choose Support in the upper right of the page.
Then, choose Support & Troubleshooting. You will need to figure out the next steps from there in order to find an authorized repair center.
Best wishes.
There is a foreign object in the paper feed path. It could be anything from a paper clip or staple through to an insect (or worse). It will definitely be on the side where the crumpling occurs. Try feeding a strip of card or thin flexible plastic backwards through the feed mechanism. A laminated sheet of paper can also be effective for this.
This can happen if you install a CLP-500 cartridge OR a Xerox Phaser 6100 cartridge.
Physically they are the same, but the 'chip' is different.
In the case of the Xerox, it is the programing of the chip that 'tells' the printer its a Xerox cartridge, and the printer won't accept this as valid.
If it's a CLP-500, the three contacts on the side of the cartridge have a resistor (for the capacity of the cartridge) and a falmeproof fusible resistor which resets tha page counter (for that cartridge) when a new cartridge is installed.
