My lock would not even close, so I had to buy rope to secure it on my flight. I secured it so tight that the lock actually locked on the flight. Now it's locked it won't open - not even on my code n

As long as there is pressure on a code lock, you can't open it. You should try to secure it with the rope again, so the lock is "free" then try your code again.

Cannot lock

Pick your number. Look at the inside of the lock. There should be a little "slider". Slide that - it sets your number and then your lock should function normally.
