Change the contact tip.This is the most common problem. The tip gets burned and keeps the wire from feeding. You should always have extra tips on hand.

Heat gun tips often get bad electrical connection where the nuts tighten to the tip ends. Remove the tip, clean the ends, re-install the tip, making sure the nuts TIGHTEN onto the tip ends. Your problem is common and always caused by a poor connection at the tip ends/nuts.

are you sure you bought the H.D. tip this is the big gun

unlikely, the switch poles are not making contact or a wire has come adrift from one of the swiutch poles.

Sounds like one or two of the power diodes are defective (open), producing a half wave pulse instead of full wave, giving it a dotting effect.

To check if there is a signal from the switch on the gun, depress the switch and the wire should start to move out. If it does, the main board has a fault, if it doesn't, it may be a faulty switch.
