How to charge jml 2866 lantern

I believe this lantern is recharged by plugging it into an electrical main. You can see the cord in the picture at the following link. The charge appears good for about 5 hours of light. https://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=1420&pos=28&pid=47436

I heard you can put bleach in water to make it safe to drink. Is this true?

Yes. If you are planning a camping trip, having a way to drink water is essential. If bleach is the method you prefer, buy some chlorine bleach. All you need to do is add two drops of bleach per quart of water and shake. Wait at least 30 minutes before drinking.

I have a 6-7 year old Rayovac Workhorse Lantern- I bought 2 new 6 volt batteries and 2 new tube bulbs for it but it still doesn't work. How and where should I take it to be checked?

The odds that both bulbs went out at the same time is pretty low, actually. It's more likely that there's corrosion in the on-off switch or that an internal wire may have come loose. It's also possible--and I've made this mistake myself--that one of the 6-volt batteries has been put in backwards so that the polarity is not properly aligned for both batteries. With all that said, here are a few simple tests you can do.1. Check the batteries. If you have a battery tester, are both batteries good? If so, check they are properly installed and making good contact with their terminals.2. Pull the bulbs out and use a voltmeter to check that you have voltage going to each bulb tube. This basically means switching the light on and touching each of the terminals where the bulb(s) would clip in. You should see a strong voltage reading on one or both tubes-I believe that this light is designed to keep working, even if one of the bulbs is burned out.3. If you don't get a reading from the bulb terminals, the on-off switch or wiring leading to is is the prime suspect. You may have to disassemble the light housing to get into that, which may not be particularly easy. At this point, you might want to call Rayovac customer service and see what they might do for you under their alleged lifetime warranty for flashlights. You may be able to send it in (holding onto the bulbs for yourself) and get a free replacement.Good luck!

I desperately need an owners manual for a 1998

Paul,

Plese don't be desperate. Your rig has been around a good long time as have you. It is doubtful that you will find the collection of manuals you seek after this many years ... yet, if you have questions about your rig, I will be glad to help you. I am both a camper and I work in a large recreational vehicle park. I dont know it all, but I know a lot. If you will ask questions, I will try to assist you. Deal?

I have a stove top percolator. Can I use it on a propane stove as long as I'm careful not to melt the handle on a camping trip? It's a white pot with a chrome top and black plastic handle.

Depends... Check with the Owners book if its designed for electric stovetop only or both gas and electric. AGs tops will disperse more heat around the sides of the pot. It may or may not damage the plastic handle and it may discolour the white finish. If you cant find the info, it will be a risk you have to take. Try it and keep an eye on it while its percolating to see if the plastic is getting too hot or the white is starting to discolour.

What is the replacement bulb for a FP lantern model #72384

I believe you are referring to a Finbury Park lantern. The following site sells FP lanterns and bulbs. I suggest you query them with the specifics. https://www.lights4living.com/elstead-finsbury-park-lights/s463 I hesitate to suggest other "bulb" sites as they might lack the ability to find the bulb simply by the lantern ID. If the bulb has an ID number, that would help. Here is one such "bulb" site: https://www.1000bulbs.com/?msclkid=85883f8c924112a60229634ff913f1ec&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Light%20Bulbs&utm_term=cf18dde841%20bulbs&utm_content=1%20Metal%20Halide
