LCD monitors use CFL lighting behind the liquid crystal display. There is an inverter circuit just for the CFL lights which requires some of the DC current from your adapter to be converted back to AC. most likely your inverter was blown. if it does this without it being plugged into a computer then the horizontal hold is out on the main board of the lcd. if its ok w/o a computer connected then check the cable an pins, connect it to your laptop to test your computers video out issues.

The signal strength or format of the signal from your playback device does not mesh with the monitor's capabilities. As an example digital signals will not show on an analog monitor.

I assume by "adjustment screen" you mean the OSD (On Screen Display). This is the box where the menus for adjusting the screen appear. If I'm correct, that means you have pushed the "menu" button on your LCD and need to push it again to turn the OSD off. If pushing it again does not solve the problem I would say it's time to have the LCD repaired. In many, but not all, that OSD goes off on it's own after a bit.
