Is the monitor plugged into the wall and power turned on? Is the video output of the PC connected to the monitor?

Do you see anything on the screen when it powers on?

Should take it to service to repair on-off switch

Take it to service though I doubt it can be repaired

Three of the many possible reasons: 1) Dirty or damaged disc.2) Dirty head on the reader.3) Disc is in upside-down.

dear hmanhcc,I'm had same problem before,the solution might not perfect but it's call a sollution.#if you dealing with quantum drive (what ever its type, it will running unstable with SMART error. it caused by bad product quality. but you want to save the data inside you must replace whole controller board with the same type!. nothing else, and quickly backup all data to other drive.it just remind me how bad nightmare dealing with those kind of drive....remember, always prepare a plan to buy another hardisk when you had that drive over 3 year service.ciao.
