Pyle Televison & Video - Page 3 - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
Model number PTC 20 LD
Hi,
Unplug first the unit for 1 hour and plug it back in to the outlet and check if the symptoms still there.
If the symptoms remain the same, this is an indication that the internal parts/board gone bad. The most common caused of this symptoms (unresponsive button key except from the power button key) is the faulty inverter board.
This board is responsible to function the backlight of your unit and have a feedback circuitry giving the command to the mainboard from its status. If this board gone to malfunction, the feedback circuitry's enable and will disable the unit to avoid further damaged.
This board must be troubleshoot to determine which part(s) gone bad. High voltage transformer, high voltage driver transistors/IC's, electrolytic capacitors, resistors are the common parts to fail.
If you're handy with electronics, check this parts using the multimeter to isolate the faulty parts or else seek for an assistance of a qualified TV Techniian.
Also, check if your unit is still under warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the back cover will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My Pyle 19" tv in
Hi kndbish
To answer your question;
If there is no red light at the front(completely dead) it could mean something as simple as an internal fuse.
Specially if the a.c in your trailer runs off a power inverter that may create spikes in the line voltage.
In any case you`ll have to take the back cover off and follow the power cord up to the power supply.
Once you`re there let me know.
By the way : do you have a multimeter?
I get inconsistent results in using the auto channel search...
use any other connections to your tv, not the one thru rf input.
i.e: audio/video, component, hdmi, etc.looks like there is a tuner issue, plus you'll get a better picture quality by using other options. if that' hd set, you will take advantage of this feature, if not, just improved picture and no hassle to screw in that "comcast's" thick RF cable in.
Good luck,
Alex's TV.
Dvd player reading no disc
If you have been using the unit in a dusty environment or in a smoking allowed area the laser lens should be cleaned and the unit should be tried again. Replacing the entire dvd player portion of the unit should also fix the problem. I have not looked into this or tried it yet but it looks to me like any computer dvd player drive would work with this unit. you may have to buy new or modify power and data cables to accomidate size differences but that is also worth a shot. Sometimes player mfg will use parts that interchange between units. Good luck. Dan
Dvd turns off
I have this unit and I repaired it. ( I am a trained professional technician)
History: I bought the unit used and planned to use it in a car for mobile long trip viewing. I did so and the unit has been on standby use in the shop for some time.
Over time the unit began to heat up to the point that it was too warm to lay my hand on for a while.
Solution: I was aware that I had a transistor or a voltage regulator going bad but I was unshure of when or where.
I opened the unit to do a finger heat test on each component untill I found the one that was the warmest.
Upon opening the unit I noticed that a capacitor was bulging at the top. compared to all the other cap's that were flat on top.
I removed the cap and replaced it with a better one and reassembled the unit.
so far into testing the unit is working. I will add a cooling fan though to keep the unit from having problems in the fiture and to hopefully make the unit last longer.
the back of the unit has a +12v output so wiring the fan should be simple.
good luck. Dan
