Orinoco Classic Gold PCMCIA Card Not Showin any Networks in Range
They may not be compatible with your WiFi card. That seems most likely. Check what type of WiFi you have - A, B, D, etc and then make sure your card is compatible - yours is 802.11b. WiFi have different frequencies and channels so it is not simply enough to plugin a card and have it work. If you need an expert, bring your computer to a BestBuy store (even if you did not buy it there)and ask them what is wrong.

Wi-fi problem
I went to the Proxim website (
www.proxim.com) to see if I could find info on the card, but Proxim looks like they make you register before you can get any information.
You probably just need a Vista driver. Go to the Proxim site, register, and see if one is available.
Good luck.
Hello, good afternoon. My problem

Proxim Orinoco 8482-WD PCI Card, Driver installation locks Win-XP
Try the other way around, first install the card then boot the system up.
When Windows finds the card and asks for the driver, insert your driver cd and choose install driver manually and point windows to your cd drive to force the use of the correct driver.
It may be that windows is trying initially to install the generic driver.
INSERT PROXIM CARD-GETTING PCI DEVICE?
It may be that the driver being used ia a generic one that Windows updated if it's on automatic, and not the driver you got with the adapter.
Start from beginning again, uninstal card and drivers if still there, but make sure Windows looks to your installation CD for the driver and not a Windows generic one.
You may have to re-start your system, and make sure your router sees the card in it's ip address allocation.

It is the Global Broadband test Service.
Click BEGIN TEST and it would test both Upload and Download Rate and give you the results.
