believe it or not, I have found many usb cables at resale shops like goodwill stores..but you can take you camera to walmart and they can show you a universal usb cable set with different ends on it..

try taking out memory card and formatting it on pc, then try again

Although the manual does not mention what to do when it does not work as it should, most camera's can be brought to reason, by removing the batteries and after a little time you can reinsert them.When you have the battery out, you should also check if the connection point, both on the battery and in the camera are clean and not corroded. Corrosion never remove with sharp objects. Better use contact oil an soft swaps. Takes longer, but keeps the contacts in better shape.

You need ti take it to a digital camera repairer for repairs.

I think there is something wrong with your camera or the memory card, you had better ask official service for help. Besides,even if the photos are deleted by some error, but they are still in the SD card as long as they are not overwritten. get more here: Photos Recovery

Format the memory card using the camera's Menu - select Format memory card.
