There is a fuse in the the base plate that has blown. It is soldered in and is special fuse you won't find at Radio Shack. Unfortunatly it needs to be fixed by a Pfaff dealer on someone with access to the fuse. If you have the work done, make sure they replace a certain reisitor on the base plate at the same time to prevent this from happening again (per Paff).

machine needs to be serviced. if its been sitting the when you run it sometimes it will tighten up the more you run ir and the smoke is usually oil varnish on the motor. It gets hot trying to turn the machine

Once you open the top cover you can observe by turning the wheel manually where is the actual clutch mechanism location (by switching bobbin winding off and on). Once you see small dark element moving slightly on the inside of the wheel, drop a bit of oil on it and switch back and forth clutch by turning small knob. After few tries clutch started working perfectly.

Everything is fixable, you have a top class machine! When was the last time is was served, cleaned and lubricated? They need doing every 2 years if you use them or not. Every joint and sliding part needs one drop of oil once a year.

What windows version are you using. Win XP and newer are not compatible.

The only place you will get a part like that is direct from Pfaff or an authorized repair centre.

Take it to a local sewing machine sales and repair shop and see if they can repair the problem, you may need parts or the machine timed.

I have a 2056. I open the little door with the red light and closely watch my top thread for when it stops catching a bobbin thread until it is used up. I stitch more slowly but at least not annoyed and not wasting thread. Dawn Illinois

it's possible that some part of the computer is or has gone out, it would be a good idea to have the machine checked.

Something stuck in tension

Take it to your pfaff dealer.

You can contact the person you bought it from or contact the manufacturer they maybe able to let you know if you give them the make and model. You can also look at the papers that came with the item when you bought it. Hope this helps.
