You did it right, but are you sure the new batteries are fresh, and they are inserted correctly?

Double check. It is really easy to put the batteries in wrong if you haven't used the device in a while. And batteries can be bad, even if newly purchased.

If the Palm was working the last time you used it, being inactive wouldn't kill it. If the batteries that were in it all this time leaked, The leaking chemicals could damage the unit. But that would be pretty obvious when you took the old batteries out.

Once the batteries run down to zero, you would lose any data that was stored in in the. You would have to re-load it from a backup. Even so, it would boot up and take you to the setup screens when you turn it on with working batteries.

Make sure the batteries are OK. Sometimes, even brand new ones are defective.

Go to your outlook profile on your pc and find out what changed or the files will end up in two profiles. Depending on how much memory you have left........

I think on that model there's a touch icon in the left bottom corner, if you tap there it opens the brightness feature. If not it's in the Preferences.

Try setting the HotSync system to "do nothing" with Date Book and use another calendar program.

I love TCPMP. It plays anything I could through at it. Go to and download click the link. You will also need the additional plugins. I recommend at least ffmpeg (video decoder for just about everything).
The project has been discontinued and will be rereleased as BetaPlayer, but there isn't much information about that project yet. But for now, TCPMP is the best solution on the Palm TX.

You can try to leave it for a few hours then charge it again. Or you can replace the batteries. I also have the same problem but after the reset, everything worked fine

Hello ariuz1953
Your solution is to simply Factory Reset the Z22, and put in your own new name and password. I have most answers to all Z22 questions. see:

Hello AnyMoose

It is rare to find anyone still using a Z22 these days. ( I use mine every day)

Hi, erieser,
If your new ( used) Z22 has a name "missy", then it is NOT A "BLANK", as you state! You need to do a complete "factory Reset" After the COMPLETE factory reset, you then start the Z22 and name it Absolutely identical to your computer's Z22 name, and then try again to connect. I am surprised that did not direct you to my 32 other Z22 answers, which cover your question. You can read about your answer and other tips and maintenance procedures at

Generally this error means that HotSync manager (via the 4 Outlook conduits) is having a hard time connecting to your Outlook or, in some cases, specifically to your Oultook profile.
