well the PC is not 100% dead, and the screen works
no model PB told at all or sold in what country?> where?
this can be simple to worse. (20 things can fail here)
1:: do the 10second long power button reset.? cures stuck sleep
fails.
2: remove the huge battery and RUN on AC power pack only?
batteries are A#1 case of failures and this test is fast and proof.

3: the coin cell battery is dead. replace it. (and reset bios)

4: the HDD is dead. 5 years old?
no PC told at all and no way for me to judge age, I do tests based on AGE> of PC> to save time , labor and cost of buying useless parts.
5: take unstated PC to a shop, in your unstated town and bingo.
it was not sold in USA./ for decade
and is owned and made by acer.com now.

Packard Bell laptop shift keys not working?
Go to Control Panel then look for Ease of Access
- Click on Change how your keyboard works.
- Uncheck where it says Turn on Sticky Keys and click OK.
If this doesn't work try checking the keyboard language if set correctly.
- Go back to Control Panel then look for Region and Language and make sure all tabs at set to the United States.
- Click Apply when a change is made then try your keyboard again.
Dvd stays open / won't close
Replace your DVD. Seems the lock inside is broken. You might have tried to open the dvd with a pin pushing in tiny hole.
