Can not view pictures
No this camera does not have any internal memory. All images should be written to the memory card if the memory card is inserted properly. If the memory card is not inserted correctly the camera screen will show a message of No card. Do you see that message?
Cannot understand the manual
The olympus web site has a few and if you register your purchase and sign up for the emails, you will get one or two video walkthroughs every week.
I have an olympus E3 digital camera.
sounds like internal problem but you can try hard reset by pressing the OK and Menu button at the same time and choose reset camera. also update firmware. else send to repair at olympusamerica.com/repair
The e1 cam saves 3 photos
Are you using any AE or WB bracketing functionality - according to the manual on pages 70-72 if these are set the camera will take three different shots of the same photo to show you the different exposure compensation or different white balance settings. Try turning either of these settings off and it should just go back to one shot at a time
Shutter actuations
There is, as people have been looking for, a way to count the total
number of exposures on your E-1. May work on other bodies, but I don't
have those to try].
A. Firmware readout on E-1 [may be the same on all
E Series bodies]:
1. Turn the E-1 on
2. Open the storage media door
3. Press down the Playback Mode button and OK
button at the same time
You will then get the firmware info displayed
on the LCD monitor.
B. More "internal info" [ALL E series bodies?]:
There's a neat little trick to know some statistics
about your E-body:
1: open the CF card door
2: press "play" and "ok" at the same time
3: press the arrows in this order: up; down; left; right
4: fully depress shutter once
5: press up arrow, and now there is magic on the screen
pressing the arrows, you can go through some pages
a: firmware details of attached goodies
b: R= shutter release count (with my camera it was
obviously reset during service), S= flashes
fired, M= pixel mapping (mapped pixels?), U= SSWF ?
