If everything else is working, then replace the display. Make sure the battery is charged and it is not faulty.

What would be the easiest setting to use for a beginner

The easiest setting would be the AUTO mode. In this mode the camera does everything except decide where and when to take the picture. You can also use the various scene modes depending on what you're taking a picture of.As you gain experience you'll want to use some of the other settings in order to take more control over your photography. I suggest you visit your local library. They should have some introductory photography books which will tell you when to use what setting.

Why the flash of the camera are not sincronize with imagine and sometime is shooting down when I shooting.

Your camera probably has a flash shutter speed, typically around 1/200 second, and if you choose a higher speed then only part of the image will be exposed.

.orf pictures won't open

If you want to open it at the PC you need a driver for the Olympus Raw File or you can use Google-Software Picasa or the Vendor specific Software(Olympus Master 2), which is supporting that format. Microsoft Camera Codec Pack

Xd picture card will not click into place on Olympus e-420. Results in prompt "card reader error."

Are you sure it is a xD card and not an SDXC? Then there should be a little arrow, pointing in the direction it should be going while inserting. Try to eject the card and reinsert the card. If you never used a xD card, and nobody else ever tried to put something in the slot, the card should go in smooth. After placing the card, don't forget to format the card in the camera. e61b1b58-f622-43d1-8585-fe32b6db372c.png

I cant get my camera to turn on

0) Check that viewfinder mode has not been selected instead of LCD and it is working!. 1) Check the battery is correctly installed +/- in correct way; remove and dry wipe terminals of battery and use small brush on terminals in camera. 2) Recharge the battery as per directions for camera. 3) Check that memory card is installed and in the correct way. 4) Try another battery as it may be dead. 5) Take along to your local photo shop for advice. Good luck.

Why is my compact flash write protected?

The write protection is usually enabled by flipping an extremely tiny switch on either the side of the card or the adapter you may be using. Write protection keeps your data safe from being over-written.

How auto focus

Most camera's, and the Olympus to work the same with auto focus. You place the AF target o the place you want to focus on. (the part that should be in focus in your picture) then press the shutter release button half and wait tip the AF conformation mark lighter up on the view finder. (the little round in on the bottom left) Then frame the picture as you want it shot and press the button complete. I'm not sure your lens has a AF / MF switch, but that should be on AF all the time. When you use non AF lenses, your cmarea can't focus automatically. It should work fine with the kit lens. (lens that was originally delivered with the body)

D2C01 error code

It's a non-critical shutter release error. It's nothing to worry about, and can be cleared and ignored. It happens sometimes when the camera is powered off (or the battery runs down) when it's still trying to do something.

Olympus E520 compact flash card error

I hope you never tried to put in a memory card in, the wrong way around. This could have damaged the contacts in the camera. Or perhaps only one or two contacts in the camera are dirty or oxidised? With a bright light and perhaps a magnifying glass, look in the memory card holder, to see of all contacts are clean and shiny and not one is bent, ir has a little dent. If a contact is dirty use a little wooden or plastic tooth pick, to solve the problem. eventually make the point of the pick a bit softer, be cats for rubbing of some dirt, this will be enough. You never should use sharp looks in or close to a camera.
