OCE Office Equipment & Supplies - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

There is nothing you can do, even if you had the service manual. The first two error codes deal with power supply issues and the last one deals with the fuser section, which may be related to the initial problem of power issues. I would recommend you call an authorized Oce/Canon service representative to determine what exactly the fault is. This printer is a new model, and there is not likely parts available outside of official Oce/Canon logistics.

Recommend updating the driver. Opening and closing the lid may temporarily alleviate the problem. Alternatively, contact a Cannon/OCE service representative who has access to the codes. The user manual does not address these specific codes.

1. Start the printer in service mode (hold down Feeder Selection and Information while pressing power. Keep the feeder and information buttons down until you see an "S" in the upper right corner of the LCD.
2. There will be a new entry called "SERVICE MODE" with a different menu structure and navigation system.
3. Familiarize yourself with the following facts while in this menu:
a. Left and right change the categories.
b. Down and up go into, and out of (respectively) submenus.
c. From what I've read, the service mode is very powerful - lots of opportunities to really mess things up. Be careful.
4. Select "Service Mode" as you normally would, i.e. scroll down, then press OK.
5. Press the right arrow until you see "Initialize".
6. Press the down arrow.
7. Press the right arrow until "W-INK" is displayed. (Note: be sure you select "W-INK" from the "Initialize" choices instead of "W-INK - CHG CNT" which sounds like just the thing, but doesn't work.)
8. Press OK.
9. The display should show "=W-INK" for about half a second.
10. Press up until you get back to the main menu. Press information until the maintenance cartridge capacity is displayed.
11. The maintenance cartridge capacity is now 100\% (aka empty).
12. Press and hold Power to turn off your printer.
13. Turn it back on normally.

  • To enter SERVICE MODE the machine has to be switched OFF. While the machine is off, hold down the sheet or roll feed button and the information button. Keep these pressed and switch the machine on, keeping the buttons pressed until you see an S in the top right-hand corner of the display, then let go of the buttons. You should now be in SERVICE MODE.

first try to print nozzle check in services mode.
Scroll right to the service mode box (rightmost box) and press OK. You should then see the word 'DISPLAY'. Scroll right until you see the choice 'ADJUST' appear. Then scroll down until you see the choice 'NOZZLE 1' appear and press OK. If you haven't already loaded paper, the printer will prompt you to do so and then it will print out the NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN.

check go any nozzle no firing out ink..if ok means printhead problem need replace.

after that,pls restart machine

later go to maintenance menu choice replace print head.

then follow their picture image to replace the print head.

Since it is a monochrome printer that prints only one colour, black, it sounds like it is functioning properly.

The corona wires may need to be replaced and the system needs to be cleaned. Please call an Authorized Oce Service Representative.

This printer is over 20 years old and is no longer supported. No parts, no trained technicians. The problem is a low toner concentration. It will require a trained technician which are probably not available anymore. I would recommend getting a new plotter.

The Oce 9400 is no longer supported. No parts available and few, if any remaining people trained on them. The printer is over 20 years old. I would recommend getting a new one rather than putting more money into repairing something that should be retired.

Your paper switch may have failed. Look at the back of the machine. The thing under all those crescent shaped paper guides is called the Integrated Receiving Tray Paper Switch. If it is hanging off the system on one side ensure it is properly locked on the system by pushing it in. Under the paper switch on the left side (right side of printer) is a little box secured by a 7mm hexagonal head screw. Take the box off and see if the connector from the paper switch to the back of the machine is seated properly. If it is, it may be a failure in the paper switch itself. If so, please call an Authorized Oce Service Representative.

I'm assuming you filled the toner. Hopefully you only put one bottle in and it isn't overfilled, where you could have even more problems. If shutting the machine off and turning it back on again doesn't get the system to start conditioning, there may be a problem with the toner hopper. Please call an Authorized Oce Service Representative.

I'm assuming you mean it prints blank sheets.
There could be a problem with the High Voltage Power Supply, or a short to ground in the transfer assembly.
Generally these parts are not available online. Call an authorized Oce service technician and they can get it running quickly.

The safety relays are on which may mean there is a problem with the fuser. Turn the machine off and unplug from wall. Take off the right side top cover and look to the back. There are 4 wires that go to the fuser that have orange protectors on them. Remove the connectors but ensure you know exactly which way they go back. Check for corrosion or any bad connection.
If that doesn't have a problem it may be the corona wires. For those, I would recommend that you call an authorized Oce Service technician.
