Northstar diesel generator 6500 main bracker tripping at low charge

Tripping phenomenon A.Ifdiesel gensetoperates under rated conditions for a few minutes, the automatic air switch trips, after recloses, then trips a few minutes later with a burning odor. The cause: The main contact of the automatic air switch is not well contacted or the spring pressure is insufficient. and the lead-out wire of the switch is not well contacted. The above two reasons will increase the contact resistance of the main circuit of the automatic air switch and cause serious fever, which will lead to the action of the thermal release and lead to wrong tripping. Methods of resolution: At this time, we should clean the main contacts of the automatic air switch and flatten them with a fine file or fine sandpaper; Adjust contact spring pressure to make good contact; clean contacts, apply conductive paste if necessary, and lock connection screw.

My NorthStar 5500 generator head no longer produces any electrici

Specs do not mention a maximum safe rpm but the recommended shaft speed is 3600rpm. Even though it isn't a premium product I can't imagine the manufacturer would be so foolish as to design it so it breaks if that speed is exceeded by a reasonable amount for a short amount of time. The big question is what is a reasonable amount - I reckon a safety margin of 25% would be reasonable for a budget priced product and up to 40% for a premium product. Over-revving is unlikely to do very much damage to the stator but the armature is at risk of damage and being brushless or self-energising, unless there is visible damage it is a difficult item to test without dedicated equipment. I suggest you recheck all plugs, connections and cables and if no faults are found contact the manufacturer or dealer for advice, costs, etc...

My northstar 10500 generator runs but no power at outlets, I had the capacitors replaced and still no power? Where on the web can I find a diagram of this unit.

Did you try the capacitor wired up both ways around? They only go one way and there is no indication as to which on it. If you still have trouble you need to flash it. Contact us if you need more info on flashing the unit (DO NOT USE A BATTERY OR MAINS TO DO SO!)

I own a northstar pro 80000 generator. I recently had to replace both capacitors. Now reading 145 and 148 volts per side. Any adjustments available to reduce? Thank you in advance, Mark

The RPM lowered should lower voltage, try it by hand, plug in the volt meter and push the throttle on top of carb with your finger ,should not take much .

The rubber gasket on bottom of gas tank where fuel line exits is torn and leaking. The valve is fine.

You cannot just buy that gasket, but will need to purchase a new Fuel Tap Petcock. You can purchase it here: http://www.generatorguru.com/northstar/
