My neon sign gets half way through light and stops, but it will follow the touch of the glass
Sounds like that neon sign might be lacking the proper amount of the gas inside of it. By touching a segment and then it will light you are increasing the capacity around that segment. An old trick is to place a piece of aluminum foil in back of the segment that does not light and see if that works. Other then that you may want to try a larger transformer but you shouldn't leave the light on for prolonged times because the electrodes at each end will get very hot possibly causing the glass to melt. Good luck.
Neon light only comes on for a second. What is the
investigate all soldering on printed circuit board and check for bad (swollen) electrolytic filter capacitors. May need large magnifying glass or low power(5x to 20x) inspection microscope to find hairline thin fractured thermally intermittant solder connections of electronic component leads to foil trace circuitry!! good luck with the hunt! 12fixlouie
The car keeps over heating ,going thru at least
The engine is leaking cooant some where and it is a big leak.
Could be from a cracked radiator or heating hose, or a leaky radiator, or radiator cap or into the oil sump, this will cause the oil to change to a milky color. It could also leak coolant into the combustion chamber pass a faulty head gasket.
Fill the radiator and put the car in park and run the engine until it reaches running tempurature, open the bonnet and look around the engine and under the car to see where the coolant is leaking. Also have a look at the exhaust tail pipe and the oil dip stick for color changes to the oil.
My car is overheating. I have changed the
-
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
-
Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the right inner splash shield.
-
Remove the accessory drive belts and power steering pump.
-
Drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
-
Securely support the engine from the bottom, then remove the right engine mount.
-
Remove the power steering pump bracket bolts, then set the pump
and bracket assembly aside, but the power steering lines do not need to
be disconnected.
-
Remove the right engine mount bracket.
-
Remove the timing belt tensioner and timing belt
-
Remove the camshaft sprocket(s) and inner timing belt cover
-
Unfasten the water pump-to-engine attaching screws, then remove the water pump from the engine.
- Remove and discard the water pump O-ring, and thoroughly clean the mating surfaces.
To install:
-
Install a new O-ring gasket in the water pump O-ring groove. Hold
the O-ring in place with a few small dabs of suitable silicone sealant.
-
WARNING
Before proceeding, make sure the O-ring gasket is properly seated
in the water pump groove before tightening the screws. A improperly
installed O-ring could cause a coolant leak.
-
Position the water pump to the block and install the retainers.
Tighten the retainers to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm). Use a pressure tester to
pressurize the cooling system to 15 psi and check the water pump shaft
seal and O-ring for leaks.
-
Rotate the pump by hand to check for freedom of movement.
-
Install the inner timing belt cover, timing belt and tensioner.
-
Install the right engine mount bracket and engine mount.
-
Refill the cooling system with the proper type and amount of coolant.
-
Install the power steering pump and accessory drive belts.
-
Connect the negative battery cable.
-
Use a DRB or equivalent scan tool to perform the camshaft and crankshaft timing relearn procedure, as follows:
-
Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector (located under the instrument panel, near the steering column).
-
Turn the ignition switch
ON
, and access the miscellaneous screen.
-
Select the re-learn cam/crank option, then follow the instructions on the scan tool screen.

NEON SIGN WON'T WORK
If It is actual Neon Tubing. It Takes a High Voltage Transformer to light the tube.
I work in a sign shop and we commonly use 8000, 12000, & 15000 volt transformers.
These types of transformers are like "Lightning In A Box". Unless you know what you are doing It could kill you! Any reputable sign shop should be able to give you a idea what you have for FREE, and the safest and cheapest way to get it working...
Did I kill my el-wire with current?
I don't know anything about el-wire except what I have just read on this site:
http://www.elec2go.com.au/category5_1.htm
It looks like there are limitations to the inverters and length of liffe due to outputs and frequencies. Length of wire will govern which inverter to use.
Maybe your HD 10 amp 12 volt power supply simply burnt out the wire? Consider that (on the page I have just looked at) inverters are run on 2 AA batteries or 6v inverters and output 6 mAmps (not 12 volt and definitely not 10 Amp!). Is this Power Supply an inverter specifically for the el-wire?
Read up this web site (and others) and you may find the solution (and the cause of the problem).

My Employer Says They Are Going To Cut My Wages. Can They?
If you are in the middle of a contract, then cutting your wages is almost certainly a violation of your employment law rights. While I am by no means an expert on this matter, I did have a similar issue years ago - mid-contract wage cuts - and I hired an
employment attorney to fight the case on my behalf. It turned out that my employer was basically looking to scare people into taking the wage cut.
They got into some pretty serious legal trouble for their transgression, and nothing happened to me in terms of wage cuts after that. If you are between contracts, your employer can re-negotiate your salary, but as far as I am aware, if you are in an agreed-upon contract, they cannot just decide to reduce your salary. If you want to settle matters, contest this action with support from a legal professional.
