Can you explain to me

If you are going to attempt to sight in your rifle scope for hunting or just shooting, you will need a basic understanding of what a Minute of Angle is.

Think of a circle as it is divided into 360 degrees.

Each degree is divided into 60 minutes.

Each minute is divided into 60 seconds, but we don't use that for ballistics, seconds of angle are just used in machine shops and in rocket science.

Minute of Angle

1 MOA = 1/60th of a degree

1 MOA = 1.047 inches at 100 yards
Most accurate long range scopes are set in quarter clicks (4 clicks = 1 MOA) or eighth clicks (8 clicks = 1 MOA) but less accurate short range scopes are sometimes set in half MOA clicks (2 clicks = 1 MOA)? which to me is the opposite as it should be.

For a .308 the difference between shooting at 100 yards and at 500 yards is about 11 MOA. That adjustment with a scope using eighth clicks is 88 clicks.

Most accuracy testing is done at 100 yards, because it makes the math easier, and it is close enough to see the bullet holes through a spotting scope.

Folks usually say that 1 MOA is equal to 1 inch at 100 yards, which is almost exactly correct, as 1 MOA is only slightly more than 1 inch at 100 yards. But for what we are doing it is close enough. Now think it on out to 300 yards, 1 MOA is then equal to 3 inches. So if your shots are 1 inch off to the left at 100 yards; out at 300 yards, you will be off to the left 4 inches. Clear as mud? Hope this helps.

What are the marks below the crosshairs

They are used to indicate elevation needed to hit your target at various ranges. The distances should be indicated in your owner's manual. For instance, if calibrated for .223 remington, and sighted in at 100 yards, the first might be 200 yards, the 2nd 300 yards, etc.

Marlin 1895 45-70CB 26" octagon Barrell

The Leupold VX-II 2-7 X 33 is excellent for the Marlin 1895. Small enough not to unbalance the look of the rifle, plenty of magnification for hunting with the 45-70.

I have one on my 1895 cowboy and I am well satisfied with its performance..

I DONT HAVE ENOUGH ADJ TO ZERO IT IN NC SCOPE

You will have to shim the scope, use a piece of 35 mm film, It works good, 2 if you need it, if you at extreme measures, you will have to shim the base. You can look through the barrel of a bolt action rifle and see what you will hit at 100 yards, just prop up the rifle in a box or a vise, site down the bore at a target, mailbox, streetlight, then bring the scope to that point, check your barrel again. This will put you on paper at 100 yards. Hope this helps.

The two front lenses are fogged up. What can I

It gets condensation from going cold to hot, you can't take them apart without disturbing the seal. The only thing you can do is put it on the radiator and let it warm up, slowly, evenly, not too hot, for about a week. My gps on my bike fogged up and it is in the sun all day, but still won't dry out, so, you are taking a chance. It might not do anything. Hope this helps.

How do you use the range finder on your

You have to sight it in and then insert the ring for the specific ammunition and distance you are using. From then point on, you can dial in the distance and the cross hairs will be right on.
It isn't an actual range finder, it's a bullet drop compensator.
