Its possible that the file you are trying to open is now just a shortcut. If you have made a backup, you maybe trying to open a shortcut to a file now located in another location.
Did you manage to make the backup? Does it work?

since its an error message, the best thing for you to do is to reinstall the program, there is no other fix apart from this.

Uninstall the program, restart your system, then reinstall the program back. After this, the problem should be fixed.

I believe the program was working perfectly before now, so reinstalling the program should be do the fix.

It is quite simple. You will have on your hard drive, where your data file is located some locked files. they will be called lock .flk or maybe even one called access. When you see these files, drag them to the trash and empty the trash. If the trash cannot be emptied. Shutdown your computer and restart.

This should release the lock. These files are normal to see when you are in MYOB but if you crash out they should dissappear, occassionaly they will not.

MYOB requires that you have a default printer selected on your computer system. If no printer driver is installed, when opening a company file, a printer error #5 is displayed.

Highlight your Printer and go to File on then Menu bar/Set as default.and Turn off user account control if you're using vista. It's in your security center in the control panel. Turning this off should fix the printer error 5 issue .

Click on the Starts -> then Programs ->find the MYOB group ->click on the name of program.

save file into a .ZIP file then un Zip the file and it should help to change things or print reports. BUT, ALWAYS BACK UP A COPY OF YOUR FILE FIRST.

You would have to post the entry as last financial year, just to keep it all ligit. After you have done so check that your retained years earnings are correct!.

Sorry if this too late for your End of Year deadlin, the PAYE year is March to April regardless of your accounting perios.

Go to my computer-> c drive-> program files-> MYOB folder-> look for your previous year files over there.

Also check the backup folder.
