Try swapping batteries. A bad battery, even coming off the charger will give you squelch. If the sound follows the radio, there is no adjustment or repair. If it is the volume loud all the time, it is the on/off switch. No one sells them because it is a disposable radio. You could try to resolder the switch or buy a used radio from a garage sale or thrift store and take parts off it. So, invest some time and it may work!

you can't because of the up/down buttons on the mic. the 2950 is a 6 pin and the d-104 is a 4 pin. If you can figure a way to eliminate the u/d switch then go for it. there is a wiring diagram on www.cbtricks.com

change channels maybe it will go away. How is you power hooked up? does it go to the fuse box ,cigarette lighter or directly to the battery? Try hooking the power up differently .If that doesn't work try asking a friend to hook it up in their vehicle to see if it still does it. once you find the problem then install it. Could the nb/anl switch be in the off position ? Good luck.

because of lack of information on this radio I will have to say its stamped the same way as the 9001z which is top secret because even midland doesn't have a manual on it . If you look at the board with a magnifying glass you will see the variables are marked with like vr-1 might say mod, if that's the one then turn it all the way to the left for max mod. You have to look at each variable and next to it it will have what function it does .

If a handheld radios check your battery and/or antenna. Trade with a known good unit to see if the problem is solved with either. A poor battery can often cause static.

If a mobile radio, check your antenna connections and your antenna and coil. This could be a sign of a poor antenna or antenna set-up.

Best regards.
