try using a friends computer who has an older system. I used my Mom's, it was Windows 7. Finally it installed the updates, no problem. It took me weeks to figure out this work around, but I got it to work. Very bad customer service on Magellan's part. But I suppose Microsoft is also to blame. I doubt Windows 10 will ever work, when they upgrade, they don't integrate the drivers, making a lot of devices obsolete. Let me know how it goes...

THere is nothing wrong with it. On the left side of the unit pull up the rubber cover. You will see a very small switch and a button above it or below it.
With a a pen slid the switch, and push the re set button. Then slid the switch back. and turn on the unit the way you normally do. If it doesn't light up
either you did it wrong, the unit is discharged, or there is something wrong with it. If nothing works call Magellan and if it is still under service, they will help you. Good luck to you.

I have the same problem, no SD card in, Jungle Ghost, the problem is not being able to get to the menu as the application error screen just hangs up on the splash screen. this also happened to me when updating via application manager.I have contacted Magellan support also and they are not [email protected] is anyone has suggestions.

the 1440 does not have a reset persay, the way to reset it is to hold the power button to the off position for 15 seconds, then restart it!

that will not cure your problem though if the update was interrupted....run the update again..either with a fully charged battery or plugged in to power using the home charge.

if the update fails, i can give you something else to do.

keep in mind, Magellan will repair or replace (free of charge) any of there gps that were rendered inoperable do to one of there updates, but they will want you to try the update first before you send it back, so might as well get that out of the way

I had this model years ago. Once the battery refuses to recharge, forget it. This model and its accessories was discontinued some time ago. You might be better to buy a new one. You can try to find a charger on ebay, but I would say it's time for an upgrade anyway.
