Solution 2 unplug jack out of plug at rear of computer test it in other jack holes what might have happened is that the default setting for speaker and mic might have swapped round best way is play some music and move jack plug around see if you get any sound

Considering your file is a media file you should go for digital media recovery software. I can suggest you few, must try Stellar Phoenix (http://www.stellarinfo.com/mac-photo-recovery.htm), Disk Drill (http://www.cleverfiles.com) and Wondershare (http://www.wondershare.com/data-recovery/)
Power light flashes with no display
That usually means that the connection between the PC and the monitor has been interupted- check that the cable (probably has blue ends) between the two is firmly connected, and power it back up. If that doesn't work, you have one of three problems; a broken VGA cable, a broken monitor, or a broken video card.
Finding out which- you'll actually need someone tech-savvy there to help you figure that out. Try plugging the monitor into a different computer. If that fails, use a different VGA cable (cables are pretty cheap at monoprice.com), and if that fails, it's your video card.
