My portable cd player is acting weird all of a sudden! HELP!!!!
You need to open it up to check the parts inside. First look around to see if there is any plastic parts that are damaged. This might account for the noises inside. If you can not see anything wrong. Get a magnifying glass or lens and look at the lazer lens. Make certain the power is NOT on for any of these tests. If you see any odd light patterns or damage on the lazer lens it will not play discs. Unless it was an expensive model it will not be worth repairing if the lens is damaged. Do not open the unit if the model is still under warranty. In which case contact the maker of the unit.

There are about six common cords that fit most items, Radio Shack is a good place to start and most TV repair shops carry power cords

The cd player do not spin it comes on then go off
Hello
The sled motor of your player is not working. This is the motor that spins the disc inside as soon as it has been loaded. But to spin disc, the disc must be loaded properly into the loading mechanism. Just check the loading belt that attached with loading motor and loading gear set for any loose, which may cause improper disc loading. Replace it first. If it does not help you, check the voltage at the seled motor terminals. There must be a voltage [4.5VDC approx:]. If the voltage is there and still the sled motor does nor work, replace it. If voltage is not there, the fault is with the loading IC which is soldered to the main board of the device. OK>

Cd player only shows
You will need to check the swith that change from Tape to CD to other functions. If the switch is good. Then the next thing is to check for tape function. Can you try to fast forward, reverse. If these functions are working properly then the pinch roller ( the little wheel that is pulling the tape need to be replaced). If nothing moves then you need to replace the belt and the wheel and possible the motor at the same time

The cassette spindles do not turn
Check for broken or stretched rubber drive belts. Age is as bad an enemy as wear. If it has been sitting for a period of months they go bad faster. Even if you keep it indoors out of the heat, the A/C will dry out the oil the belts and they wil lose their elastisity. There are usuallyonly about 3 or 4 belts in the cassette player at most and they cost less than a dollar each. If you can find the belts, buy extras and keep the extras in a zip lock bag. Parts are harder to find as time goes on and most manufacturers will deliverately quit selling normal wear items like belts after a few years to force you to buy a new product.

I have a CD-1492 manufactured in Oct 2003. When
Unfortunately this is a laser pickup assembly problem, overtime the laser becomes weak and can't track anymore. The second problem is caused by a bad pladder motor that the cd sits on, any repairs on this scale involve the whole assembly to be changed and is not cost effective to repair but far cheaper to replace the entire unit.
