I've had this happen a few times. Each time all it has taken is to clean the ADF scanner glass, located on the far left side, using a lint-free cloth and a glass cleaner. I know it might seem odd because it works fine with black and white copies, however this has always done the trick. I'm surprised this is not listed on Dell's support pages. Hope this helps.

Shouldn't be a problem, provided you use labels that are intended for a laser printer. Inkjet labels can wreck your laser printer (inkjet labels can't cope with the heat of the fuser in a laser printer).

Use the right template in your Wordprocessor package for the labels you are using (or create a custom label layout in your Word processor).

Use the Multi Purpose Feeder input tray (fold down from the front door), put the labesl face down, print (making sure that you tell the printer to use Labels and the MPF. It's important to tell the printer that you are using labels, as these are thicker, and need more heat from the fuser (especially if you are printing several sheets of labels, as this cools the fuser a little)

YES.

There are good quality remanufactured cartridges for this prnter. I did the development work on these carridges (and the other printer name versions) for one UK remanufacturer, and do the Qualty control on them. Use a brand with a good reputation, and of course there should be a guarrantee.

There are also some poor ones around (as always some remanufacturers take shortcuts and don't do the job properly).

Unfortunately this is not the place to mention specific remanufacuterers that you can buy a good product from, and it does depend on you location.

The scan to email function works with applications like outlook. If your email is web based like hotmail, you will need to scan to file and attach the files to your email.

Yes! Of course Printers are the most difficult machinery in the hardware world. Just turn of your printer restart your computer and now once you reeboot your printer and computer it should be able to recognize your devices your printer once that happens just respond back to me Ok!

On the printer panel, go to SETUP--->Admin Menu--->System Settings--->Fax Transmit---> set to Print Always.

Hello Mr. brown; Try to open he back cover .remove the fuser unit out , and check is there have anything stuck on the roller try to turn the roller few round see the noise come from where then go to fix it.

just reinstall the pdf software.

why not ?
if you dont just try to set settings back to factory default
or try to cold reset

The Dell 3115cn is a good at most Laser printer. However, the unit was not ment to last and like all of Dell's products, will end up shortly in the bone yard. ( Please note, I am not a fan of Dell's equipment. )
I have worked on several of these units and would not recommend spending money on repairs.

The best thing you can do is to remove all cartridges and removable service panels and blow out unit under high pressure.
Although this is a mostly gear driven unit, their are a few items which can pick up sheds of paper and make the unit drag, squeak and hum.
You can pickup a can of CleanSafe, which is a moisture free high pressure cleaner. I believe you can purchase this at Radio Shack or Home Depute.
You may also want to check the kind of paper you are using and make sure it is rated for you LaserJet and not a multi use paper. This may keep the drag off the motor and gearing.
Hope this works for you, if the unit is fairly new, you may want to contact Dell and make compaint's. They may send you another.

you can open the cover from backside or from the side where you installing the toner.try both the way which is easy for you .

chec below things

1. clean the drum unit
2. check the charge unit also
3. clean inside of the printer ...
4. check fuser unit heat roller any black streak is there...........

Try increasing the toner density in the printer settings. Also check if the settings match the type of document to be printed (If printing text, select text, not photo or lineart).

MPF is refering to Manual Paper Feed or bypass tray. This tray should fold down to enable loading of paper. It is mostlikely above tray 1.

Make sure the line has a dial tone with a regular old 20th century analog phone plugged into the FAx line. Once that's verified, unplug FAX line from printer. Unplug Printer power. Wait 60 seconds. Insert FAX line again. Plug in printer. As it warms up, keep hitting CLEAR ALL and STOP buttons to skip the status page printing.

If that doesn't work, turn off printer and then hold CLEAR ALL and STOP buttons (at the same time) while turning on printer. Once the display gets into the calibration mode, keep tapping those two buttons. This should free you to get to the menu.

Do NOT pay the $360 XEROX wants to fix this common glitch on this poorly-designed printer. This is not a serious problem in 90% of the cases, but a glitch in the software that runs the printer.

go to settings and change the left margin to 0.0. if in Word, then file->page setup and set the margins to what you want, left margin to 0.0 in your case.

What error is the ssc software giveing?

The jam it's talking about is in the feeder on top. Check for stuck paper, or a sensor stuck down, in the feeder area on top
