1) Without the transmitter, you cannot use the 800 mouse or keyboard. 2) You need to have the dongle since it connects the computer and the keyboard. The dongle acts as an intermediate between the two devices. 3) Hence, do not try connecting the computer without the transmitter.

Usually, the connect procedure for Labtec is, that you press the small connect button on the receiver, (which on some models, then starts blinking).. Next, you press the connect button, on the bottom of either the mouse, or keyboard.. then repeat this, for the remaining unit. Note: You might have to connect the PS2 receiver BEFORE starting the PC, and also might have to install the drivers, to get the multimedia-keys to work ! Good luck!

If its a Bluetooth device, you need a bluetooth dongle if you have a PC, a MAC has Bluetooth built-in also Android Phones and maybe Win 8
